Big thanks go to @steveconnor for alerting me to this. We all know Steemit is plagued by spam, plagiarism and other abuse of the system. Many of you will feel you cannot flag this because you don't have enough SP to affect it and you fear reprisals. Well, there is an alternative.
You can report it to @steemcleaners using their web form. You need to provide some evidence and then I assume one of their team checks it out. You can only report each offender once. The great thing is that you can earn rewards for doing this.
So all those people who waste our time and their own spamming the system could actually be earning something by helping to reduce that problem. I got a couple of dollars for this case, but I'm not sure what the exact criteria are for getting paid. For some people around the world that's a good bit of money.
So, next time you get a comment like 'hey nice post, please vote me', you can check out that person to see if they are a persistent spammer. If you report them then others can take measures to deal with the problem.
We have to ensure that spam doesn't pay or it will just get worse. On my own posts I will flag it whilst good comments can get a nice vote from me.
Let's make Steemit better. Please check out @steveconnor as he has some great stuff on his feed.
I'm Steve, the geeky guitarist.
I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars
If this post is over seven days old you can vote up one of my newer posts to reward me.
Spam comments may be flagged
Thanks @steevc and @steemcleaners! Even with what little SP I have Im always torn between uovoting great posts or downvoting asses posting a single picture with a link to its original source. I usually up vote and have shunned down voting as I'm scared of getting flagged or down voted myself.
lol I can imagine what will happen next, the spammers will start spamming steamcleaners with spam alerts to get paid! haha There will be a full on spam war!
I hope they can deal with that. I expect they can spot accounts that try to report too much.
I think you're on to something ;)
Great initiative. I've definitely been guilty of not flagging, however it's mostly due to the fact that i give out warnings first. If the spam persists...well measures are taken. I think this idea can really make a difference though.
People need incentives and also a safer way to report abuse without reprisal. so this seems to provide both!
Wow this is awesome. I get so many spam comments on my posts sometimes I start to wonder if I'll ever have a real conversation with anyone here. Thanks for sharing
This is definitely very usefull information! Next time will report spammers to clean up the community.
Thanks for telling that dude, I didn't know about, That's great!
now they question is where i can find spammers ahahaha , anyway keep up the great content
They are pretty easy to find :)
Just go to any popular author and there will be lots and lots of them in the comment section.
Awesome news! Thanks for sharing. Sometimes I want to punch a comment in the face because it is so flat, now I can earn from it :D
Did not know @steemcleaners rewarded users for doing this... +1 for them... still think they go overboard a lot of times.
Really good to know. Ill definitely start using this.
This is really cool! Maybe there will actually be something positive that comes out of my post getting spammed the next time someone does ;) I'm definitely bookmarking that link.
Let's keep trying and have the community clean in here ehehhe :D Great job :D
Crypto systems seem to have an uncanny ability to regulate themselves.
I had had some of them come and comment trying to get a follow or a vote. I usually go and see their blog. Just to see what they have posted and most of them do not have any posts. I will have to start doing this, thanks for the info.
i think its a good step to stop some spam and junkers, as steemit growth well and user are increase day by day, its totally unmanageble to protect each and everyone by checking ownself. so if you look something like that can report it and helped the platform.
hmm good idea for quality of post and comments but mostly people are doing this.this is very tough to find people
