Independent Reserve is a Sydney-based Australian cryptocurrency exchange, founded in 2013.
Their trade commission stands at 0.1% to 0.5% depending on your 30 day trade volume.
Bitcoin and Ether deposits are free and an important fact, AUD withdrawals are free to Australian bank accounts!

~Step one~

Make an Independent Reserve account.

~Step two~

Open your steemit wallet: https://steemit.com/@ YOUR NAME/transfers

Next you are automatically taken to the steemconnect window, accept the transfer.
It will take a while for the confirmations on the transaction to go through and for the ETH
to appear in your Independent Reserve account.
Expect 10 mins to 30 mins wait.
You can refresh your ETH wallet on the Independent reserve page labeled Deposit Wallets.

~Step six~

Lets get some real cash, that meat pie money!
Now you have your ETH in your Independent Reserve account you can go to the tab labeled "Trade"
click the top left hand arrow and select ETH if not already selected. (1.)
Now click the button labeled Max. (2.)
Click the button labeled preview sell order. (3.)

Finally review your market order in the next window that opens.
If you are satisfied with your order click "place sell order"

Congratulations! You should now have AUD in your Independent Reserve account!
You can click withdraw next to your total and select
your pre-defined Australian Bank account

I currently use Btcmarkets.net for my Fiat withdraws. Would this be similar to independent reserve?

yeah it's pretty much the same, it just has free withdraws and stuff and I had trouble getting an account at a few other Australian exchanges as they frequently were closing registrations. Thanks for your comment!
