I am one of those guilty of occasionally posting argumentative posts; my strategy to combat that is to only comment when I can add to a discussion...not that I always succeed in that, but that is a matter of self-discipline.

Yes I used to be the same - sometimes I didn't even realise I was doing it consciously!

For people that are smarter than normal, there may be a tendency to talk down to people, i.e, correct them..."How can you be so stupid?"

and I am laughing at myself while I type that, because it is very typical of me,
