The Secret Sauce

I have pondered on how to explain to newer members of Steemit on how it works and the intricacies behind this new social media network. For some it is an easier concept to grasp than for others, while many simply forget that there is also some etiquette involved in this newer social network/crypto-community.

I realize that in learning, there are different types of learning per the individual. Some can learn quite easily with audio learning while others need visual learning. Then there are those that need both audio and visual learning while there are those that must incorporate audio, visual and physical hand ons learning in order to fully grasp a concept.

This realization is what helped me create what I call the Steemit Secret Sauce to Success formula. The great thing about it is that many of you will already be familiar with some of the "ingredients" in this formula, and for those who are familiar, they are pretty basic and easy to learn.

The formula is pretty basic as you can see from the initial post picture showing Fb + Rd2t ====>> STEEMIT. In the formula, Fb stands for Facebook. If you have a facebook account, great, and if you don't then get or tag along with someone who already has a Facebook account.

Why Facebook?

Isn't part of the point of Steemit is to get off social media networks like Facepuke? The answer is yes, but Facepuke is a great place to learn online social media etiquette. Facebook has rules from how you interact and socialize with others on their platform. Break their rules and your account will be obliterated from their network. So by creating an account or using an existing one on Facebook, you will learn the social do's and don'ts on their platform. Since many already have an account, to the tune of 1 Billion user accounts, that equates to about 1 in 7 people throughout the world having one. Therefore the familiarity of Facebook is a great instructional tool for learning how to behave on a social media platform
and then applying to the Steemit social media platform. So go ahead, create and/or login to Facebook. Use Facebook properly for a week or two, maybe 1 whole month. Try to make friends and get likes on your posts like other successful Facebook users. Try to emulate the success of those Facebook users that are constantly being recognized and rewarded by the Facebook platform with likes and re-postings. Once you have some successful results in Facebook by having others join your circle of friends, like your posts/pics and ultimately learn the basic rules to success on Facebook, then you are ready to proceed to the second part of the formula.

Yes, I Seddit

The second part of the formula of Fb + Rd2t ===>> Steemit is Reddit.com. Many already know what and how to use Reddit.com, but many also don't know anything about Reddit and what it is or how it works. Reddit, for the most part is an online news and social media discussion site with news aggregation and web content rating. Reddit is an extremely popular and important news forum that also has certain rules and regulations that users must adhere to in there postings. Users can re-post news stories or creating their own discussions or stories as well. Other members of Reddit can like these posts or give them an up vote in order to place them higher in ranking for their particular category or genre. By placing higher, the posting can get more exposure and therefore ranking, creating a virtual loop until the post or meme can actually become an Internet sensation or Internet Global news. Reddit is that powerful, so learning how to successfully navigate the Reddit waters will serve greatly when bringing that success and knowledge to the Steemit platform.

Once Facebook and Reddit have been understood by the user, they simply have to put together what they learned from both these two social media sites and apply it to the Steemit social media platform. If you can be even just a little bit successful on Facebook and Reddit, you should be very successful on Steemit. Those two sites should prepare you adequately enough on how to act and socialize while at the same time creating successful posts, but just like on those sites, even a month is not a enough time to build a successful following. Unless you are famous or have some super-duper talent, it will take time to build your Steemit success.

Extra Ingredients

As with any recipe, a good chef can always add a few extra ingredients to make it better or suit to taste, so too with this secret sauce. You do have to be careful no to spoil it though because just as there are "good ingredients" to add to this formula, there are also bad ones that can ruin your Steemit Secret Sauce to Success.

Good Ingredients

I think one of the more important spices one can add to their Steemit experiment, since it is a formula we are concocting, is Originality. You can add as much of this ingredient as you like and it should only serve well to your blog. Another great ingredient that many newbies overlook on Steemit is to up vote other posts and comments, which is the same as a Facebook like. This is an ingredient that you want to use but not over use to the point that your voting power goes below 60% or 70%.

Relevant (key word here) commenting and replying on other Steemians' posts as well as your own are also two great additions to your Steemit Success Formula. This is the part of being in a social network that is very important, therefore a healthy dosage added to your Steemit Social Media mix will definitely help in your success here on Steemit.com. Another addition to this Steemit Success mix are the usage of up voting services to help promote and reward your posts. This ingredient can be used but with varied success, so it is a topic I will discuss in another posts.

The Bad Stuff

Now for the bad stuff that could potentially ruin your Steemit experience. These are the shortcuts that some think will help them earn some quick money but usually results in making very little to nothing at all. The number one worst ingredient you can mix into your Steemit blog is PLAGIARISM. This is using other peoples' words, ideas, works, art, creations and other stuff and trying to pass it off as your own. So either be original, or give credit to the borrowed property that you will use in your postings. Another much maligned ingredient you want to stay away from is running multiple accounts. Many try to do this thinking they will receive better rewards, but in the long run, once this act is discovered, your Steemit experience will be rewardless for the most part. Another couple of bad ingredients to not mix into your daily Steemit is spamming and begging or asking for an up vote. Spamming leaves a bad taste in everyones' mouth, and begging make you look pathetic, so avoid these two as well.

Hopefully using Reddit and Facepuke as stepping stones to learning proper online social media behavior, your Steemit experience will be more meaningful and rewarding.

I konw I left a few other bad ingredients out, but if there are any questions or input, please let me know.

What an amazing formulae, I think that formula is amazing, to some people they even learn when you use situations they know of to project what you're trying to get across to them, however which way, many have perfected the act of being on facebook, steemit is just a little advanced and can definitely steemit just like you seddit should they apply specific tactics

An excellent overview @streetstyle and your formula very accurately shows us how the social component of the Steemit is formed and it is very useful for me!

I do use fb for promoting steemit but reddit is new for me. Thank you for always coming up with amazing and out of the box topics.

That's the real deal and i want to see banners and ads on steemit that would come interesting public here. Regards

@dim753 I think at this point straight out advertising banners are frowned upon by some steem members. Some do have promotional links on their blog signatures, so we'll see what the future holds.

It's true but maybe we can think about brands and publicity that kind of things improve the
prestige of almost any page, i woul like to see a refferal program too, what do you think @streetstyle i mean a referral program could be great but maybe we will find to much spam that's the awful of that idea. Regards

it is so nice post of the day.

A good lesson for beginners, everything is very well written and understandable. Thank you for your great contribution to the platform.

A wonderful formula, my friend and your review, social behavior in the Internet and the Steemit is very relevant, especially for beginners! Thank you @streetstyle

Plankton,newbies and minnows!!!

Good suggestion..!!!

Oh thank you for the information I do not know anything about Reddit.com. I have to get acquainted, but I have an account on Fasebook, but lately I'm not interested in it, there is no motivation.

So you already understand how Facebook works, and you really don't need reddit if you plan to follow steemit rules.

well i am already using fb
i think i need to have a look at reddit
it will be absolutely rewarding
i wish i would have got this formula when i was very new to this platform
it is stil not late

Excelente post, @streetstyle.

Exquisite job friend. but nonetheless the pastime desires to be on a new level it's not going as the same as a year in the past Steemit is extraordinary but it needs to make matters work once more. these components changed into sincerely great. this changed into virtually useful for Steemit new users. thank you for sharing your content @ streetstyle.

STEEMIT is a smart platform....excellent formula..... thanks for sharing your article..
