A team effort: collaborative payout

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Just a quick post with a potentially silly idea.

Would it be useful to be able to split payout of one post for several users?

Reasoning:

Projects

There are many people collaborating on one project yet when they post, the engagement and support can be quite different depending on their position here at Steemit. What I was wondering is if being able to set a payout for several users at some percentage would encourage more project teams to develop and take equity directly from projects.

Fundraising

It could also be used for raising funds for a range of causes or development requirements where those interested could designate a percentage of their payout automatically to a project or for user who requires some financial assistance.

Charity

Perhaps someone may want to choose a charity or user they would like to consistently support but the mind being what it is, may forget to. Maybe an automatic percentage can be taken out no payout and sent directly to the charity.

Curation

Rather than renting SP, a portion of the curation reward could go back to the delegate. This would mean that the whales may choose to give some of their vote power to manual curators and still get a percentage return. For example, a 100 dollar upvote gets a 25 dollar curation reward. If the curator gets 10 percent, the whale 90, there is a 2.50/22.50 split in curation reward. This is a cost for the whale but with the right curator, quality content is consistently hit which is good for long-term whaling.

The reason I think this may be beneficial is that it could encourage more cooperation and engagement for projects and in the case of charity, it is actually charity that comes out of the pocket, not the pool and therefore does not get a curation reward either. And of course, it may encourage whales to hire decent curators and a decent curator can earn decent income.

I think that as the site develops, there will be a growing need to automate some functions of support to reduce the manual labor of each user as well as find different ways for revenue streaming within.

I have kept this short and to the point with a lot of grey area so that people can think how this may look for themselves and whether it has potential or is useless. There are likely ways to game it but, there always are it seems.

I believe this is currently a feature in busy.org (another window onto the steem blockchain)

oh, that is cool if it is. I will have to check it out. I have never used Busy.

This is already possible and used by some apps. If you use eSteem to post, 5% of your post's reward actually goes to @esteem.

It should be possible to create some kind of app where you can set all the beneficiaries before posting something, so that you can share the reward.

Nice idea, this feature can be quite powerful if used right!

I have never used esteem either. I think it would be interesting to see how it could change curation and project team dynamics. I would be interested also in being able to give a little to some members I think deserve it but don't get it. It is hard to keep track manually.

Interesting...i am really curious about the future development of steem ☆☆☆

Me too. I would like to see the platform succeed well into the long-term but I think it is going to take a lot of thought to make it happen.

You can find about it here.
It's called delegation :)

not a silly idea at all!
