Free market systems are open to free market forces. I don't think this or any of the other ideas I have will ever really be taken seriously but, I am trying to look at different perspectives and potential solutions. Who knows, maybe one will work.

How about this from left field.
Bots obviously have an impact, but not at the bottom end of the scale. ie. The minnows that send 0.1, 0.5, 1 or even 10sbd probably aren't affecting things in a great way, but then you have the whales that will send 50, 100 or even 200 sbd, multiple times a week or even day, on top of their own valuable self votes, and votes from their whale friends.
So is there merit in measures being taken to limit the user of bots over a certain amount, by or by people with a certain level of sp? Or something like that..
If the bots don't self comply, then action can be taken by a group of influential people that care to vote down any posts with an excessive amount of purchased votes.
Just an idea...
Essentially not getting rid of the bots, but limiting their excessive use.
This is always the problem. There are only a few people with the stake and they are spread thin since many are delegating out to the bots. It is a bad situation really.
well i guess it's a case of the priorities of those that have the stake... like anything really, they're the ones that influence in the way they want to..
