The biggest challenge I see, and the reason i don't think FB is going anywhere anytime soon, kind of adds to your statement, "Myself, along with many others, are now capitalizing on (and then re-investing in) a massive audience we worked to generate on Facebook...Yet I am now reaping the rewards by calling my audience and that network over to Steemit."
For us new fish, who had large followings of mostly friends and family, rather than activists, is the uphill climb.
Those who are able to bring a large group over have an immediate advantage in terms of accessibility (as well as those who have a hefty dose of BTC already). For the minnow working from the ground up, it can drown out some otherwise great content such as my own, natch. ha ha
I'm not sure what other people do, but I spend most of my time reading the new and active posts looking for for those who might otherwise get overlooked because of the heavy hitters. I want to support people like you, but also work to try and lift others up with me.
I'm not complaining about the work. I actually love it and have every confidence that I will make my way up in due time. I think those of us who can make it up from the bottom here can boast a greater sense of accomplishment than those who built an empire in Facebook where, honestly, it was much less challenging.
That said, I question if other minnows will have the same kind of passion and patience. Granted, those looking for a minimum effort task will probably not provide great content here anyway.
