Hi all Steemians,
I have been going around for a bit today reading some posts here and there. I found several of these posts discussing the fact of how hard to make steemit money when you are a new comer. Of course I agree with this because, apart from one single post, all my other posts barely got even a single view let alone an up-vote.
To answer why is that? there are many factors including politics, friends, steemit policies etc. However, the reasons why we are facing a difficulty isn't the scope of this post. Following @kyriacos advice, I would like to complain a bit but also figure out or at least think of some solutions for the issue.
So how can we increase our income and productivity? and why the two are related? Although I am against associating our worth with someone else's validation, most of us (myself included) will become happier when their work is actually appreciated and will put more efforts in future posts. It is just human nature to seek appreciation and feel good about it and there is nothing wrong with that.
Now to the solutions of how to increase our income:
I suggested in one of my replies to a post by @yoda1917 that we could ask the veterans (with high SP power) to adopt few new comers, say every couple of months) and upvote or resteem them periodically. The criteria of choosing the adopted new comers could be the quality of their posts for example. Of course, this will only work if the veterans agree to this and also depends on their own criteria of choice.
Have you been in Minds.com? If not, they have few nice perks there that Steemit could use to make everyone happy. (mind you, I dont know anything about programming so I am not sure how easy or difficult applying these changes can be, but I believe that if there is a well, there is a way). So what are these perks?
a. They give 50 points every hour to any person who is active on their website during that hour.
b. They give 15 points to every post you publish
c. They give 5 points for every reply you get on your posts
d. They give 5 points to every vote you get
e. if you accumulate enough points, you can use them to boost the content of your post to a certain number of views (For example, you pay 100 point for 100 views, and the post will stay boosted until it reaches 100 views, regardless of the votes you may or may not get)
I think using the point system is the best way to make steemit a better place for everyone. Why?
People will work for themselves and become more active on this site if they want more points. Hence more money.
It will minimize our need for veteran steemians to reesteem our posts.
It will allow people to boost for themselves so they don't have to pay for resteeming (if they don't have the money to afford it or they just don't want to).
It will minimize the flood of resteemed posts. If you read through FAQ, they advise to minimize the number of posts reesteemed so you don't overwhelm your followers. If you think of those people who are offering the paid resteem service, how many requests they get? many (just go and look in their blogs). How many of these posts you think their followers are going to upvote? Very few if any. Now the person who did the service gained 0.5-2BSD per post, while you lost the same amount and didn't get that many upvotes (or the votes were low SP).
For example, I paid 2 SBD for 1 post, I didn't make even 2 SBD from the votes I got (27 out of 3000 followers). If we collect enough points. A certain amount of points (i.e, 1000 points = 1SBD) could be converted to SP, STEEM or SBD.
If someone has low SP, at least their vote is still worth (5points)
Everyone will be interacting because they want to gain more points and so they will learn from each other.
Both veterans and new comers will benefit from this. So everyone will be happy. Yay! :D
I personally stay on Minds.com more than steemit. Not because I get more money there (They don't exchange points for money). Just because there is more human interaction.
Please upvote and resteem if you like the suggestions (or even if you don't like them ;P)
Please dont forget to leave your comments. Lets work towards better Steemit life
Sincerely
The leaping koala :D
Thank you for the mention, I love this post. I will have a longer read later as I must leave the house now and get a better feel for it :)
Thank you for your efforts to begin with and for your support :D
Hey @theleapingkoala, I was reading through your article and I am a new comer to steemit. I couldnt agree more with what you are saying. Having veteran steemers resteem our posts would definitely boost us up. I know it will be one thing I will be doing when I am a bigger profile. You have an upvote from me, a follow and more than likely a resteem every now and then! :)
Thank you very much for the support and I salute you for your future aspiration to help :)
Thanks Gaman :)
