I have some questions about Steemit. I see a lot of people here with wallets fatter than Amy Schumer that don’t seem to have any content other than tons of resteems. I was under the impression that you don’t get any rewards for resteeming; just the joy of sharing content you think deserves recognition. My brother, @thewisesloth, resteemed my wonderfully hilarious (cough, cough, plug) story The Legend of Bubba and Hopper and on my blog page, it said it was worth like 3.50 but on his page, it said it was worth 6.29. It was like that for a few days but it seems to have equaled out now. I’m not sure what was going on there.
Was that just a glitch? Is there anything else about resteeming I should know? My current understanding is…basically nothing. Any other pearls of Steemit wisdom anyone would like to share? I love writing but I’m functionally retarded when it comes to all these apps, extensions, trackers, and general marketing fuckery that are floating around the Steemosphere. I keep hearing about Discordia and I downloaded it but I can’t make heads or tails of how to use the goddamn thing. Also, what's up with all the worthless upvotes from pages with no content? I'm happy for 40 upvotes even if they don't view my page or make me any money. It's got to be good for my reputation score, but what's the point on their end?
Also, talking about sharing content that I think deserves recognition. You all need to go check out americancarnage. He’s comedy satirists whose posts consistently tickle my butthole and make me jealous of his writing voice.
Also, if you like photography I would be eternally grateful if someone could give some encouragement to my mom gingersicocook. She is a collegiate photography professor whose work has been in several galleries. I talked her into making a Steemit account to share her work and network with other artists but she’s on the fence on if Steemit is worth the investment of her time.
Also, super thank you to @seablue, @bleedpoet, @thewisesloth, @lilrut, @lexiconal and all the other good people who have resteemed me.
You make my heart happy. Thanks for the encouragement.
Agreed! Its confusing.
Resteems only extend the reach, it now appears in the resteemers' followers' feeds. But you can also get income from curation, and likely if you are resteeming you are also upvoting.
Hmm, I didn't think about the curation angle. I would imagine if you had enough steem power to make it worth it, you wouldn't need to though. Actually, I could see that working.
@jerrybanfield addressed this very thing in a recent video recent he did.
Some funny business going on here. Seems to me like those gaming the system are siphoning rewards away from the deserving Steemians who work hard to create great content.
Hopefully something can be done to shut this kind of thing down.
There's always going to be someone trying to game any system. Hopefully, the developers are working to stay ahead of the scammers.
I'm right there with you. I see no rhyme or reason to steemits algorithms. None what-so-ever.
I'm very perplexed.
Going to bookmark this post to follow.
Hopefully we can learn something together.
I learn something new every day here and this would be great yo
Yeah I'm still learning the ropes myself. Btw, how are you holding up in Texas with the Hurricane?
I'm directly in its path but it hasn't got to me yet. I've stocked up on wine so I should be ok.
All those worthless upvotes from 25 ers in Bangladesh wont help your rep - your rep only goes up if people with a higher rep upvote you. And resteeming is often just a pain in the arse that scammers do to hide all their self upvote posts.
All the app bullshit is for people who keep their cell phones inserted up their arses...
I thought by American standards Amy Schumer was considered slim and hot?
Well shit.
Fat girls in America say everyone loves fat girls, but it's just wishful thinking.
