RE: Bidbots and you: A foretelling

in #steemit7 years ago

You talked about how as the bot grows in power it can service more accounts. My understanding was that they always vote at full power once every 2.4 hours. The vote is split based on the proportions of the bids. So if you bid 10% of the total bids, you would get 10% of the vote.

The increased power would mean that the bid bot would have a larger vote, and therefore a larger ability to accept bids while still being profitable for the bidders. So yes, it could be serving more bidders, it could be serving bigger bidders. This is especially true as the bots raise their minimum bid amounts. The lower-end ones are 0.1 SBD, the higher ones are 3.0 SBD.

Another advantage the bid bots have is that they don't close the bidding when it's no longer profitable. So you're not even guaranteed to break even! Rather than cutting off bids when they reach the profitability threshold (which would factor in curation), they keep accepting bids and are able to gain more profitability than just selling their bids. This is one of the main reasons to not use bid bots unless you understand it's a losing venture, but the exposure is necessary.

Bid bots are, in my opinion, one of the most profitable ways of making money on Steemit today.

Yes, which means, less work if they keep the original ten at the higher reward. Maybe they can have a beer together at a pub

No, this is why you have to be highest bidder. The prices will ramp up accordingly as the auction attendees raise their offers. All goo d profit though, right....

The biggest users of bid bots are the bid bots themselves funnily enough. from one pocket to another ...oh no... from the pool to the pocket.
