How to use TwitterBot's format?

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Every now and then, you might see @twitterbot commenting on a story. The bot - developed by @derekareith - responses to Twitter links and shows them in a specific format. I have seen some comments of Steemers asking how to use the twitterbot format. It is not hard, but you have to know where to look.

For example, consider this post.

The next step is to find the source code of @twitterbot's comment in the HTML source. Simply search (Ctrl + F) for one or more words, cause you don't want to pass through the whole code. Then, you need to copy the part corresponding to the comment. This is the part stretched between the 'div' starting and closing tags.

<div data-reactid="644"><h3><img src="https://steemitimages.co/0x0/https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/662440031848546304/1H2eJL52_normal.jpg" alt="profits_bitcoin" /> <strong><a href="https://twitter.com/@profits_bitcoin/status/891815168757215232" rel="noopener">BitcoinProfits</a></strong> tweeted @ 31 Jul 2017 - 00:18 UTC</h3> <blockquote> <p>Challenging time in Bitcoin markets when broker stops trades. Scared Money rules. Read all about it… <a href="https://t.co/DqgMkw6L1Z" rel="noopener">twitter.com/i/web/status/8…</a></p> </blockquote><h6><em>Disclaimer: I am just a bot trying to be helpful.</em></h6></div>

As the editor understands HTML, the 'hardest' part is already done. It looks nicer though, if you remove the 'disclaimer' (remove the part between <h6> and </h6>).

And then the tweet looks like this:
