Did we develop a time machine?

in #steemit7 years ago

You might have noticed already that Steemit is out of sync and is showing data from 2 weeks ago.

While I'm not 100% sure on what's going on - my best guess is:

Since api.steemit.com (the server where Steemit is getting all your data from) is using a caching layer called Jussi to increase the speed and scalability of Steemit.com - the chance is high that this layer is currently undergoing a resync.

Now the interesting thing here is: the new (aka created) category is still showing up-to-date posts from the present - but those are still displayed as 13 days ago.

Whether this is wanted or forced through an error - I can't say.

But for now ...

Enjoy the ride to the past.

However - if you want to go back to the present: use https://steemitstage.com

A quiet day for Smartsteem.

How about using your own service and 'paying yourself twice'.....

What's your problem? Nobody is using the bid-bot when the main node is down and all delegators are getting paid out. Whether I buy a share of the vote or someone else does.

Also - this message is important for a lot of people who have no clue what's going on. So how about you go back to your little blog and let me do my thing instead of wasting my time with your bullying.

1.) Smartsteem is currently paying out delegators - proof: https://www.steemblockexplorer.com/@smartsteem

This takes forever because we have to use a slow backup node.

I had to manually vote because otherwise the credit to delegators would cause problems with the payout - double spending if you know what that means.

Also - I can't simply transfer it because the backup node is a lot slower when processing blocks than api.steemit so it would have never reached the current blocks - including my transfer in time.

I also decided to manually vote because that way I'm giving smartsteem more time to payout delegators before the next bid-round starts, which would have been too early. (payouts wouldn't have been finished by then)

2.) Smartsteem votes on posts that are at least 30 minutes old so everyone can calculate accordingly.

I voted on around 5 minutes - but I will also pay more for that same amount since I receive more author rewards.

You want to expose mistakes I made? I didn't - try again.

I don't see in your wallet where you 'bought a share'?

And I thought SmartSteem only voted on posts older than 30 minutes?

one mistake you make is profiting off other people's costly nodes, instead of using your self voting to pay for one for your load intensive "service".

More and more on these posts, you are under fire. Maybe you should consider a career change?

I will post-phone my answer until I published my next project - which should be in the next few weeks . ;)@sircork

It would have been more questionable if I see another "service" in therealwolf's post other than smartsteem...

seriously, if I have my own clothing line why should I buy someone else's?

Exactly @lovenfreedom - I love my service and I also paid for my vote; so I truly don't see a problem there.

Could you please show where you have paid for your vote? I do not see a bid in your wallet.

The Steem reward pool is a community resource. If people highlight that what you're doing with it seems greedy, it's not bullying.

It's bullying because abh12345 has a history of leashing out on me.@demotruk

I know - and I'm not abusing it.

Guys c‘mon please.
I can understand your frustration but I think in this case @therealwolf did nothing wrong.

Only the best for our top witnesses!

This comment has received a 2.10 % upvote from @booster thanks to: @emrebeyler.

Haha, guess which was my first thought in that context:

WTF, 220 people unfollowed me during the past two hours?

LOL - at that point in time, I still hadn't seen that it was a general issue. As you may imagine, I was pretty happy to see that they didn't unfollow me :-)

Now back to work!

Thanks @therealwolf for the update/notice. I was wondering why I'm seeing those. We've had hiccups of Steemit being down and literally freaked out. This is less disturbing than steemconnect saying "Account does not exist" when logging in.

So... I also have steemitdev link. In IT, we have dev/qa/staging and prod... is steemitdev the first environment and steemitstage right before steemit prod?

That's why I made this post and also saw the need to promote it - so others find an answer :)

I'm not completely sure about that, but it would make sense.

I'm able to use steemitstage to see the latest stuff, but obviously not much activity. That API is a weak link in making steemit decentralised.

Steem is decentralised - it's not perfect but you are able to access the blockchain even if api.steemit.com is down.

Yes, but the average user may not realise that. The site should switch to alternatives if there is an issue. I saw a flood of panicking people in chat.

@therealwolf is your voting system down?

no - why?

I had sent some sbd and normally it happens quick but it took about 35 minutes so I was wondering. Then I logged into the discord and saw what was going on.

Yeah saw the same! Crazy but it’s fixed now.

I hope the situation gets rectified ASAP, peeps are owing a life assurance to steemit.com

Glaube, da läuft gerade gewaltig was schief, oder ich laufe schneller als ich dachte, dass ich sogar die Zeit abgehängt habe.

wow, I should learn from the best steemers .. just within 30 minutes you can have that goods. I am a newbie so will this out sync thing will happen again in the future?

Yes it was scary :)), but when I saw that I was not the only one here with this problem, And I think I must be patient and we can go in back soon normally.

If I see at least one alien, then I might believe in a time machine :)

Doesn't that require a spaceship? I'd settle for a cowboy from 1849 or an android from 2049. Aliens use space boats, not time machines, right?

I think it is all back to normal again. I’m using my esteem app atm since I’m on my phone but it is all back to normal again. My wallet, posts and everything from last 2 weeks were all missing aswell just a few minutes ago.

Iit happened to me twice this week... very annoying

Както навсякъде и тук, бъгове да искаш.

I read your post first time, I found it useful.I don't know why people discourage you. Thanks for sharing nice and informative post.

this scam@therealwolf. I know this is in poor taste to post unrelated links in the comments, but I'm trying to let some whales know about

Resolved in lightning speed

your bot just ate my vote bid that was going to a non-profit event.

Take a look at your post ;)

appreciate it.

Smartsteem would never eat your bid without voting!
