Thirsty Records – Service update & a letter from our owner

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Herein is an update on the services provided by Thirsty Records, and a letter from our owner.

Service Update

We are a Music Curation Service that rewards Musicians for their work.

We have been operating for two months now.

We have accumulated over 500 Steem Power in that time.

We are currently following 101 aspiring Musicians, of all types and have gathered 80 followers.

We have a team of curators helping us vote on original music that we find on both the #music page and our very own #thirsty page.

We currently have two moderators that moderate pages and our dedicated chat channel - #thirsty-music-promotion.

We are still looking for more Moderators to join our Curation Service. If you would like to become a moderator for Thirsty Records you can message @senseiteekay on Steemit.chat.

You can check out our past announcements below if you’d like to know more about what we do

A letter from our owner

It has been a month since we last posted an update on our service and since then we’ve seen some successful developments within the music community.

One of these developments has been the introduction of the #originalmusic tag from a Steemit musician & author, @jessamynorchard. We love the fact that this tag has taken off and so we encourage every Artist on here to use the #originalmusic tag when posting their productions.

Previously we announced that we would be resteeming newly released original music that is posted on the platform. We have been doing this for a month now and so far, we’ve been successful in promoting Artists, both here and within the promotion channels. We will be continuing to do this as we feel it has boosted overall rewards for people posting their work here on Steemit.

One problem that we have found whilst curating original music, is that some Artists are not structuring their posts in a fashion that truly highlights their music. We have found that it’s extremely difficult to promote posts that have very little information, no images, and only a link to their music, instead of embedding their track in the post. It’s very important, when marketing your music, to keep your audience engaged. It is also important for you to provide information as to who is performing the track. Thirsty Records will vote on original music regardless of how a post looks, however, if you wish for us to resteem your music and promote your tracks further, you must make your posts somewhat engaging for our audiences. (If you need help in doing this, please don’t hesitate to contact us through our chat channel, or by messaging us on one of our posts. There are also guilds, such as Steemprentice, which can mentor you on creating a more engaging post)

We have been following the progress of other curation guilds here on Steemit to better ourselves when curating content, and as such we have noticed that these guilds have created a revenue stream through managerial fees from their owners. As of today, it will be a requirement for the owner, myself, and our other operators that manage our services, to pay a weekly fee. This will be decided among management, but for now it is myself who will continue to deposit a weekly sum of SP into the account. We have decided that this is necessary to grow our account, and means that we no longer need to rely on the rewards from our announcements. It also means that over time our account will be able to provide larger rewards directly from our vote.

Outside of Steemit, we have been working around the clock to create a structure for what is the world’s very first Blockchain-based music recording label. A small team of us have been working around the clock to make this dream more of a reality. We are set to be a fully registered and legible Australian business by the end of the year (for tax purposes) and hope to expand internationally soon after. Our business and recording studio will be primarily based in Brisbane CBD, Queensland, Australia. From there we will be able to professionally record & produce artists, of which we then promote, through the Blockchain using Steemit & future blockchain networks, and through traditional distribution methods used by the rest of the recording industry. While we will be based in Australia to begin with, we will be providing opportunities for Artists to come and use our facilities, no matter where they reside globally. Until these changes are fully implemented, we will continue to do what we are already doing here on Steemit.

I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincerest gratitude to all of you who have been upvoting, following and supporting all these wonderful musicians coming to Steemit. It’s because of you that we have progressed this far in a small space of time.

If anyone has any question or would like to add a suggestion, please don’t hesitate to do so in the comment section below

Kind regards,

@thirstyrecords & @senseiteekay Thank you for all the work you do for original artists releasing original content on Steemit! I look forward to new releases resteemed by you guys and working together to help bring the original music community here!

We couldn't do it without passionate artists such as yourself @jessamynorchard, so thank you! You managed to get a tag going for original productions and we're really grateful for that. It's exactly what we were trying to do with the #thirsty tag but the #originalmusic tag works much better. Thank you again, and keep up the brilliant work!

It's good to have you here. Steemit is a great opportunity for musicians to get their work out. I just do it for fun, but I've made a few dollars on music posts. Need to bring in the fans too

Hey @steevc. It's a work in progress. The more that the Blockchain community grows, the easier it will be to attract fans onto the platform. That's one reason why we decided to work as a registered body outside of Steemit aswell, because there's a whole infrastructure already there. It would be silly of us to not use it.

Ultimately we want our business to be mainly based on the Blockchain as we believe its decentralized nature better benefits artists, and the incredible amount of censorship found within the current industry is incredibly unfair on artists today. Time will tell how well we can solve the problems musicians face today, by using the technology we have here.

Thanks for your support
