GitHub Report - Condenser (Steemit.com) Release 0.1.170323

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

A new release was deployed to Steemit.com today! There are lots of exciting new features, and a few glitches to talk about.

"Welcome to Steemit" Page Updates

Several updates were made to the Welcome to Steemit page, including the new banner created by @son-of-satire! This is the first page that new users will see right after signing up for a new account. The page is jammed full of useful information to help them get started and be successful on the platform!

Added a Table of Contents to the FAQ Page

There is now a table of contents at the top of the FAQ page to make it easier for users to navigate.

Use Twilio to Verify Phone Numbers

Steemit switched the service that they use to verify phone numbers, which should hopefully help with a few of the sign-up issues they have been having with blocked phone numbers.

Added Order Operations to the Wallet Page

The wallet now shows the transaction history from buy/sell orders placed through the blockchain market.

The upvote icons got a facelift!

  • Up vote circle chevron has now colored chevron (easier to distinguish it's a click action)
  • Filled in path on up vote circle chevron when hovering
  • Pulse hover on vote circle chevron (only on up vote list view)
  • Replace faces on votes indicator/count with chevron (easier to distinguish representing votes)

Busy.org was added to the list of external links

If you click on the "share" icon at the bottom of posts, a list of external blockchain sites show up. Busy.org was added to this list, so you can view the post via that interface.

New Text for Guest Users

The text that is shown at the bottom of posts when non-logged-in users are viewing the content was updated:

Update Wallet Savings Balance to Show APR

The wallet was updated to show the APR rate in the savings balance:

I have to admit, the hover pulse feature is super slick. It's creating an emotional reaction.....................keep it going in this direction.

Emotion is exactly the element which helps humans to connect with technology. Emotions are what we need! :)

Ah hah! Now my post from an hour ago makes sense:

I will submit my issues, thanks @timcliff
Just noticed the iphone upvote thing too.

The changes are nice but unfortunately the editor mode is now unusable. Cannot create links, delete text, create new paragraphs etc.. I am working on IOS.

Yeah, there is a GitHub issue for it (mentioned in the post). Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I expect bigger payouts now that upvoting is more fun!

I noticed the upvote hoover this morning and was very impressed. The site is certainly getting in better shape. Thank you for your efforts!

thank you! and I thought my keyboard was broken... lol

Thanks for reporting Tim

I don't know if it is a glitch or a feature :) I'll review tonight.

By the way, the "editor" not working is a glitch. There is an open GitHub issue for that, as mentioned in the post.

Buy any chanse to be fixed soon ?

Sorry, I don't have an eta on the fix. Hopefully soon!

Didn't realise you had already made a post about this. I just wrote a huge one. But, to paraphrase.. Thanks for the opportunity. I am fucking honoured to have my work up there.

Awesome post! Resteemed :)

Keep up the good work, greetings.

I'll like to see the counter party in the buy/sell steem order too so there's no need to go to steemd.com to check that.

Thank you for the update. I have been experiencing issues in the editor as well, I thought the universe was messing with me lol...glad to know it is only a glitch. Hopefully fixed soon.

Sounds awesome nice work

Well done. Thanks for all!

Steemit is going to be great thank you @timcliff

Not to rain on your parade but wasn't a specialized designer team meant to redesign steemit.com?
https://steemit.com/steem-news/@fyrstikken/steemit-apparently-hiring-a-dedicated-ui-team-starting-next-week-changing-the-face-of-steemit-com

It's good that they are improving UI here and there but i think the site needs a complete overhaul, the profil page looks ugly imo and even the main board looks like a website from the 90's.

The welcome to steemit page need more white in it, its overpowered with blue and lack balance between colors.

The wallet was updated to show the APR rate in the savings balance:

Is STEEM in the savings wallet earning APR too? Thought it was only steem dollars..

From what I have been told, the website has been given lower priority at the moment so that the team can work on other higher priority projects. @sneak - any comment on this?

This was a community project, and this was the image that the community selected. If you want to run another contest for a new banner image in a few months, you are welcome to do so.

Good catch. This is misleading. I'll open a GitHub issue for it.

Great news! Thanks for sharing

I have had nothing but trouble with the upvote. Some posts I can't vote for at all.

Are you on a computer or mobile device? What browser are you using?

Mac os 10.9/safari and IOS safari.

It is probably the same glitch as the iPhone one. If you click the button a second time does it work?

It has been better today in Mac OS. Managed to upvote 10 posts in a row without a glitch. The IOS is the same. It just keeps blinking.

Do you have a GitHub account? It would really help if you could update the issue listed in the post with the details of the issue you are experiencing. Ideally with screen shots, if you think it would help.

No I dont. It's weird, it just keeps spinning and does its "blinking" thing. I doubt that i would be able to capture it. If i can, i would share it here.

It sounds like the same glitch as what is in the issue. Hopefully it will be addressed soon.

These are some really nice improvements and tweaks-- thanks for the update! The upvote pulse on hover is slick! I caught a "corner" of the Editor issues, but I have just been posting in raw HTML for the last few days...

Thanks! Very nice post!

Nice updates, glad we continue to move forward.

I dont know if this must be this way or its just a glich:

[-]patelincho 64 · in 5 minutes this i get every time i comment or post .
The timer starts from 5 mints.

Sorry, I don't understand. Can you please clarify / elaborate?

Hmm sry yes when you post somtning there is a timer(usual says just now ) and now says - in 5 mints on the moment you post . Your answer is before 9 h but on the moment you posted starts from 5 mints not from 0 .
