Ten months ago when I left Steemit it was because of two things:
A. I didn't get an immediate benefit from my introductory post, in fact, I got nowhere with it.
B. I got overwhelmed by how the payout works in the wallet and so I just left.
Fast forward 10 months and I had all but forgotten about it, to the point where I couldn't remember what the name of Steemit was. So when it was revealed that my mother and her brother, my uncle, were going to be cheated out of tens of millions of dollars of their inheritence by my step-grandmother I had to step up. One problem though, I don't have a job. I quit my job at Sam's Club back in October for health reasons and the most I was getting was $416 from Social Security Disability Income which isn't near enough to support myself or to help my mother who is barely making it living in an apartment.
Yesterday I had to put my car in the shop and got a rental car later that day. My insurance covers the rental car but I'm going to have to pay the $250 deductible on my car repair. I have no money right now and given I don't have a job right now I thought now would be a good time to start writing for pay again. Then I remembered Steemit, I remembered everything about it, except for the name of the website. So I go to Youtube and look up "bitcoin, blogging" and I saw several video entries that listed Steemit. Ah ha! Now I know the name of the website! So I go to it and discover that not only was I still an account holder but for some odd reason I was still logged in.
So I watched several videos on Youtube about Steemit, watched all the success stories, read some recent posts here and discovered that I was wrong, you CAN make a living on here, you just have to be patient. It's a marathon not a sprint. It's a daily committment that you've got to stick to. I'm going to have to play catch up to the other members who came on as the same time as me who are 2000+ posts ahead of me. I realize I may have several initial posts that won't make me a thing but if I hold on and wait I can reach my goals for this year. They are:
A. Pay Off My Car Repair-- $250
B. Give my mom $5-6K a month
C. Buy a new car, I'm eyeing one that's around $25k.
D. Rent a house for 6 months, roughly $20K
E. Save To Move to Colorado by early next year. Probably $50-100K
Are all these possible?
You pretty much have to treat this like a hobby, a hobby that pays. But I'm going to stick with it.
Work hard, read a lot, find out what people are interested in. Glad you got back on. You can do it. Just remember that every payout is going to be worth much more if you keep it in Steem or Steem Power.
