For me, I am a diehard fan of this platform, I eat, drink, sleep and dream Steem, I spend practically every minute of everyday here. Reading, writing, posting and generally doing my best to contribute to the success of this platform. I can be described as the blue man in the picture attached to this article, I consider myself as embodying all the attributes of Steem. And despite all the shortcomings and faults that come with this platform, I am so addicted that my poo is like that poo in the picture, everything about me embodies Steem. I want to completely be myself and immerse myself totally into the ideals of this platform, but we need to do some things about the issues I have observed here? How do I enjoy being here with all these shortcomings plaguing my beloved platform? I have had this discussion with some fellow contributors and diehard members and we all agreed that a lot must change. Steem is walking, but we can run and fly, we can catch and overtake other platforms around.
Have you ever been part of something that you know could be much better if properly harnessed and managed? Because that is what I feel every time I read all the irrelevant contents posted by blogs that get paid a lot of money in this social media. I think people need to demand more relevant and sensible content from any site they want to take very seriously. It is too obvious that a change needs to be made, you don’t need to have psychic powers to see that, and I am sure that I am on the same page with so many other contributors here. Personally I was seriously buzzing about it at the beginning but I have to say that so far, I have been unimpressed because I love this platform, I expected so much and I believe we are capable of doing so much better.
We can make it so that people like how it works, we can make it so that people start posting much frequently on it again. Let us start giving people what they can be impressed about. The day we stop reading good stuff is the day we die, the purpose of Steem is to ensure that people keep getting quality reading materials, why aren’t we then providing them with that? This isn’t even about the money or the fact that the returns for me isn’t matching the effort I put in, it is about quality and principle. I only associate myself with class and excellence, that is what Steem was is about and that is what we should strive to keep to. Some may be angry because they are not making money like they expected to, but it runs much deeper than that for me.
I am so addicted to this social media that my hair got Steemed and amazingly, my poo smells Steem too.
I am not happy because the right writers and blog posters are not being appreciated, and when this continues to happen, it is inevitable that the quality of writers and posts the platform will attract will drop drastically. What I'm looking for is an indication that we are still about quality on this platform, an indication that the really good writers can still expect to be rewarded for the effort they put into their writings.
To be honest, I don't think that the problem is with the social media community. Rather I think the problem comes from the rank system. We need to tweak and upgrade the ranking system such that quality article writers and posters feel important. We should start striving to make Steem very attractive to them. No one comes to an eSteemed website like this (see what I did there?) expecting anything other than absolute top draw content, I know I don’t.
What are we doing here? Rewarding below-par bloggers and destroying good quality blogs because the writers are not friends or a friend of a friend of the owner of this social media platform, that is not right!
When I first head about steem, it was amazing, I thought finally, a platform I can really identify with, and earn some money in the process. I heard Steem was a fantastic platform because it is the first crypto social media platfom that pays writers for posting, but from what I’ve seen so far, I am not so sure. It is a brilliant idea and platform but the truth is that a lot still needs to be done to maximise the potentials, we need to start paying members for their writing talent, rather than paying people haphazardly, without proper criteria and judgement. We need a real crypto world that is not corrupt or controlled by whales. We must be absolutely determined to create a crypto world that will change the FIAT world controlled by corrupt bankers and take care not to build a world where we are exchanging corrupt bankers for WHALES. Because if we fall into that trap, nothing will change, we will simply transfer the financial power from bankers to whales if care is not taken. Rather we will be headed towards a purge, a world where we simply exchange one dictator for another one.
It is time for us to start doing things properly! Let us remake the ranking and reward system to favor quality writers and posts and together we can reach for the sky!!!
I am empathetic to your story.
Here is mine about #steemaddiction :
My Steemy Addiction
That hair does look pretty sweet though.... juss sayin....
it seems what is STEEMITOMANIA diagnosis.
I am the same.
The poo thing was so spot on.
Myself and a few guys came up with a simple way to make the post rankings be community curated, based on tags:
