4 days ago I made apost that was silenced pretty much the minute it came out. It made very clear the fact that we the standard users on Steem have no protection whatsoever if one of the idiots with money take a dislike to what we are saying. It started when @nathen007 got into a fight with @haejin I am not sure who started it ect. I do know that Nathan poked Haejin a bit, because like many of us he is disgruntled with Haesjin’s rewards pool rape practises. That being said sir bigwig decided to descend from his throne and not only flag the hell out of Nathan but also threaten to destroy his account. Why? because people like him can. They come in and thrive off the power they accumulate and like dictators they try to silence anything they do not want to hear.
Nathan is no angel, it is not like he stood there like bambi just sniffing flowers, he obviously poked the bear as a friend put it; but Haejin’s behaviour could also not stand unchallenged. I dislike depots I made a post telling him how I disliked his behaviour and in an attempt to get help in upvoting Nathans drowned posts. Of course the mighty bully silenced my post as well. As long as this kind of abuse of power and dictatorial conduct is not only allowed but encouraged by those in power, Steem is not worth the heartache. There is no real free speech on steem it's just that most of us small users are not significant enough to go noticed so they let us scream into the vacuum. We serve only as warm bodies to feed the 1% on steemit and it is sadly a true reflection of modern society. I will keep posting because I have made wonderful friends here but I am not longer a believer that anything spectacular will ever come out of it. @ned just delivers political low calorie promises, most witnesses really don't care nor do the whales... This ocean is polluted with greed and depravity :( it’s a shame I really believed the dream for a while ….

capital accumulation. steemit and crypto all maintain the same distribution of wealth that exists in capitalism, cause its not removed from it. It's an expression of it.
hey come and meeet the new boss, same as the olddd boss
nods i just wish it could have been different :/

a small group of people having control of a country, organization, or institution.
I've been checking Cent out.
https://beta.cent.co
Here's something cool I found in a post on there. You might be interested. Looks like people are selling digital art for eth and making a buck.

I use the status app from the Android store to interact with Cent, a dapp running on eth. I'm having fun.
I hope you are well. 😎
The whales don't realize that the creatives are the lifeblood of this thing, and essential to the public wanting to give a damn about it. Greed sucks.
thank you :) i will look into it :D

We'll upvote your post the best we can to counter any flags it receives, but obviously someone with a huge stake, most of whose upvotes go to their own shitposts, can (and apparently will) have a larger negative influence on this post and the platform as a whole than we can overcome.
From which the bridge is:
Little men, big guns, pointed at our heads,
Seven a.m. morning, came to take us away,
Little men, big guns, pointed at our heads,
At our, at our heads.
He's free to abuse his free speech if he wishes, but this platform is dead in beta because of shit like that.
yeah I hear you it is such a shame :(
I’m so so sorry to hear this and also beyond annoyed that this continues to happen.
I 100% agree with you thang Steemit no longer holds the same welcoming atmosphere that it did when I initially joined (which was quite late to be honest). I was hopeful that Steem was changing the face of commerce, but it’s not the case when it’s so easily monopolized.
It’s unfortunate to see that left to our own devices, we will find a way to create a power struggle and hierarchical system. I was hopeful that Steem would be a nice break from “the haves and the have-nots” narrative, especially when we are enabled to use this great tool for good and to build one another up.
I hope @nathen007 will be able to return with full force in time. And I so respect your bravery and willingness to stand up and call out those abusing their position on Steemit. Power to you, @tygertyger!
it really isn't bravery what can he do but tank my reputation which I can work to get back ... in the end I am still here because I share stuff with my friends but all my hopes for this place are dust at this point :(
like all gvt, power corrupts.. absolute power corrupts absolutely.
To me, every argument have a different story to tell. There is more right or less right, depending on one's perspective. On Steemit platform, it is ideally a place for free speech, and people get to air their viewpoints, and readers decides who they'd believe more - base on facts/fake news presented.
afterall, a blockchain social network is supposedly to prevent censorship right? Like how facebook would censor certain types of content they deemed inappropriate.
I think the blockchain consensus idea must come into play, and decides what content is good or bad. not the rich and powerful decide..
ideally yes but it is sadly not the reality here :(
