Streemit For Beginners: Beginner's Guide To Steemit (How does Steemit work? How to be the king of Steemit?

Hello,

Steemit, an unique social media platform with more than 2,00,000 users, is getting popular slowly & steadily. You might have not noticed any advertisements about Steemit elsewhere which doesn't indicate that they don't advertise. Just like any other social media platform, even steemit wants more and more people to join their platform but the only difference is Steemit is looking for quality users and not quantity users. That is why you will never find them aggressively advertising or begging people to join Steemit unlike other platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and so on. So what Steemit is exactly? Let us understand the basic concept of Steemit.

Steemit is a user friendly blogging social media platform where you can write articles just like blogs but unlike bloggers on other platforms where ad agencies like Google AdWords pay the bloggers for good content based on the impressions or clicks on advertisements, Steemit doesn't require an approval from any ad agency to pay you for your good content. As I already mentioned in the above paragraph that Steemit promotes quality users, it gives rewards to quality content written by its users in the form of Steemit Money which can later be converted to Bitcoin & then to United States Dollar.

It is difficult to understand Steemit at the first glance but it get easier once you get used to it. It might seem like a mixture of Twitter, Blogger & Reddit to the beginners but it is much more than this. Unlike other platforms like Blogger, WordPress where you have to promote your articles mostly on other platforms too, Steemit articles are to be promoted on Steemit itself for the best results and by promoting I don't mean pimping your article links on other users' comment section. So how are we supposed to promote our articles on Steemit?

I have discovered that there are only 2 ways through which you can promote your Steemit articles & consistency is a key. If you follow these 2 techniques consistently, you're not far away from becoming a Steemit king/queen.

  1. Content & Hashtag

The only thing that sells on Steemit is good content. You get paid on basis of the number of audience on your articles, the number of likes, the number of shares & the number of comments. All of these things are going to happen only and only if you've a good content. So write good, unique and trending content. Choose your genre and keep writing on the same genre so that your followers who've followed you for your previous article about a specific genre won't get disappointed with your upcoming articles. At the initial stage when you won't be having much followers, you'll get all the traffic from the hashtags that you've used in the article. Always keep those hashtags relevant to get the quality audience. You can have a look at the trending hashtags on Steemit and see it for yourself how much traffic can each hashtag get you. Aggressive hashtaging will not help, keep them as relevant as possible.

  1. Engagement

Now that you've written a super unique, super quality content, how to get audience beyond what you've got through the hashtags? Here's the key where most Steemers lag or they just tend to ignore this technique as it is a bit time consuming. Let's consider that you have decided to write about photography through your Steemit account. Fidn the users with the similar genre, follow them, read their articles, keep genuinely commenting on their posts with quality comments (Steemit even rewards for quality comments). The more you interact with others, the more chances of them following you or interacting with your articles. Your articles will get 100 times more audience with engagement when compared to hashtags. Do not underestimate the power of engagement, at least when it comes to Steemit! As a beginner, start with 10 comments per day, keep increasing the number day by day depending on how much free time you have in your hand. Don't be a miser when it comes to engagement. It's okay if you don't have time to write an article today but interacting on others' articles is must.

That's it from my side for the beginners to understand how Steemit works. As this is my first article from this account, please let me know in the comment section below if you found this article helpful. Also, best of luck for your journey ahead!
