When you first start on Steemit there are a few things you should do in order to beat the learning curve. When you are starting you want to get that wallet to grow as fast as you can. Here are some tips to help you are first getting started... and to be honest, continuing these tips are important to long-term success as well.

1. Post A Lot Of GOOD Content
It doesn't matter if you are replying to the posts you read or posting blogs on your account. You won't be able to get ahead of the learning curve if you don't just put yourself out there and start engaging with the community. Comment on other people's comments in a blog. Post three or four blogs a day. When you first start, share pieces and art you have done in the past. Share stuff that you have already created to figure out what direction you want to go. The most important thing when you are getting started, is to get started. Post, comment and engage.
2. Understand The Payout Structure
It is important you know how to earn more Steem Power and how to make your votes count. Learning the payout structure and how to maximize your time on Steemit will help you jump ahead on the learning curve. The best posts I've found about the payouts are below.

Now that the prices of Steem and SBD are a lot higher, the best thing to do is keep an eye on your rewards at steem.supply.
3. Read/Follow/Upvote
Don't Be Shy. When you're first starting out, it is important to spend a lot of time reading, following and upvoting. You're vote doesn't have hardly any worth right now, so don't be shy using it when you are spending time reading quality posts. Something you should be doing a lot of when you first join. You should follow the people with the best advice and scroll through their blog to find older posts that could still be valuable to you. Here are some links that might help.
The 5 Secrets To Steemit Success In 2018
3 Very Important Tips For New Steemonians
If you log onto Steemit the first time and you see people making hundreds of dollars on posts, and you want that. Then you have to plan on putting in the work by doing these three things. It is going to take time. It took me a month before I was consistently making over 70 cents a post. I would have a few hit here and there and make $10 or $20 bucks, but they were not often. Then after a couple of months, they became more frequent. I did all of the above very early on and spent every free moment on Steemit.
I hope you can find even greater success than I did! Good luck

Thank you for reading.
There are a lot of new people joining Steemit right now so there can't be enough posts like this letting people know how to get started. It's not easy figuring out the best way to get your feet wet on here, but totally worth it if you follow good advice like this. Resteemed.
I'm one of them. Thanks for leading us here Nathan. BTW I've been a sub on ytube of yours since back in the Jeran days, or should I say a sub of your old channel before it was closed. But been watching you since then, not all the time. It's hard to dedicate 1 to 3 hours to a video but I always have you in the radar and enjoy your personality. You crack me up man. Thanks for doing your videos, and thank you for doing these steemit info videos.
Thanks for re-steeming this, Nathan! All the help I can get is appreciated :)
Thanks for the tips! :)

Very good advice. If I just had a little, little more time for steemit!! But anyway, I try to follow your points.
Thank you for the post, very clear instructions and links to more resources... Also congrats on the consistency and for not giving up at the early stages. I have a question regarding this part " I did all of the above very early on and spent every free moment on Steemit." How is it today? Did you figure out a schedule or have designated time for steemit or just whenever you feel like you are on it. It's a personal question and I understand if you don't want to reply, but I am very curious as I am finding myself spending a lot of time here and I'm trying to figure out when does the time spent here will go down if it does and how addictive the platform and if there are people who eventually use it less, yet still are successful or if it's a you have to move or you die kind of scenario.
Thank you for the advice! This is very useful stuff for beginners like me 😁
Great advice
I watched your youtube video about steemit, cool info.
All good points! I was lucky enough to get some good mentoring towards the beginning, some of it was luck and some of it was putting myself out there and engaging with the community. I am still small and young but I continue to see the benefit of knowing and following these guidelines. Thanks for putting this out there for the benefit of others!
