**Narrative (NRVE) new Steemit competitor: Is this challenge or a chance for Steemit? (Part 1)**

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Narrative network is a NEO based social platform that started their ICO at 20.02.2018. Narrative claims to be the better alternative to Steemit and expects to start deploying their first functional pieces by March, 29, 2018.

Let me start by stating that I am not promoting Narrative in this post, nor that I wish it to be an alternative to Steemit.
At this moment all Steemians are early adaptors in this new social economy we have built. This means that everybody who’s already active on Steemit has an advantage over the masses that are still to come. It is in all our interests that Steemit remains the only significant social media platform for a content economy, but it’s crucial for all you whales out there.

Whales need plankton to survive, whereas plankton just needs sunlight.

With the growth Steemit has had, there currently is a whole lot of plankton active on Steemit and we are struggling to reach those little bursts of sun light. When Narrative can offer more nutrient waters, the plankton will likely migrate there, with starvation of the Steemit ocean as the result.

Let’s make sure that does not happen, ok?

There are some issues within Steemit which in my opinion should be dealt with in order to improve Steemit’s fighting chances against Narrative and other such platforms that are sure to come. Before I address these issues however, I will first show some information from the Narrative website.

According to their website, Narrative is a social media network that rewards content creators, moderators, and everyone
who positively influences the quality of content on the network. Sounds just like Steemit right?
85% of all revenue is distributed to users.

In the Content Economy, users govern the system, with each user’s contributions and actions, influenced by overall reputation, impacting the economic reward. The economic motive is to reward all users who add value. Narrative uses blockchain technology as the basis for a content currency, creating tangible value around user-generated content.

Narrative claims to be a social network that allows users and brands to tell their stories. Currently, social networks set content policies from their ivory towers and earn billions of dollars off of the backs of the people that provide the content. Narrative, again just like Steemit, intends to flip the script by putting its members in control.

Narrative states that it is a fully transparent system. All actions of authority (moderator actions, Tribunal actions, etc.) are logged and published for all to see. All revenue-related transactions are also displayed. The software powering the network will be open source and the financials of the organization will also be audited and published.

Narrative is changing the game with a powerful economic model that rewards the people creating and facilitating great content, with substantial revenue sources to build and sustain the network.

In the 2nd part of this post I will go in to the issues that Steemit, in my opinion needs to adress, in order to be best prepared for this confrontation.

I would like to include your comments/remarks/suggestions and questions in the 2nd part of this post. So please tell me what you think about Narrative and help me get this discussion of the ground.

Please also read the post from @cicbar on Narrative:

I hope that we will hear from some whales how they feel about this.
I found this list of the 50 biggest accounts on Steemit and of influential Steemians, please share your thoughts on this as well.

Nice post. Good job 👍

I think its great to see competition. I as a plankton of steemit will also go there. I might have a better chance there. One social media of cryptocurrency cant dominate the scene right? Yes!

@weddingdresses i believe that all plankthon on steemit would like to first get a feel of the sunlight that Narrative has to offer because its tempting as all wales will also start from the scratch.....though the offer is tempting but where most people get it wrong is you dont join communities like this with the aim of making money, you join because you want to contribute something valuable from your end to the world at large if one has that mindset then it might be so challenging to manage steemit and narrative together and i am so sure that the plankton will one day become as big as a whale.....
