Hey @ned Can You Please Comment About The Power Down

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Hey @ned. If you see this can please leave a short comment about the power down. It doesn't need to be detailed or revealing. I am in the camp that it is your money and you can do whatever you want with it. You can buy a boat or hire a band to follow you around all day, whatever. But if the power down is for the website or you are moving it to another account for whatever reason (which is your choice) please let us know. It can be for a secret project people just want to know it is for steemit. Even a short its for steemit mind your business will do :p.

I ask because word is starting to spread and you know people are in this world:

If you are not @ned reading this I would not panic. If he was going to why would he sell at such a bad day of the market? And why only power down half?

Sort:

People talk a lot of FUD about Steem and the whales like @ned, I hear a lot of talk that they do nothing for the platform, and will just sell out and leave us holding crypto bags, but its just FUD.

I appreciate the question @whatageek, not saying you are FUDing, clearly not. My words are just a response to the anticipated panic.

You can both cash out and still believe in the platform, look at Charlie Lee and LTC. But also specifically with @ned look at all he does to build this platform stronger, including but not limited to SMTs.

Last time @ned cashed out, it was quite near peak of the price. He cashed out at 6 dollars in January. He is probably powering down for some reason who don't know yet.

Yeah I was hesitant to write this but after seeing that link I thought it was better to address. I %100 agree with the FUD that happens.

Charlie Lee cashed out because he saw the top in the market.

In my opinion it is absolutely irresponsible that Steemit CEO Ned Scott reduces his voting power by 50% without making any announcement. Imagine, Elon Musk selling 50% of his Tesla stakes without any statement about it. Would you like to be invested in such a company? I certainly don't.

It is not the case that everyone who holds a larger stake is obliged to make a corresponding statement to sell his shares. But, as a CEO you have a certain responsibility, because you can cause panic and cause considerable damage to the company and its investors or in this case also to users.

Sure, clearly need to move my stake and prevent articles like this.

Don't explain shit to anyone. Best thing Charlie Lee did for Litecoin is took his personal stake out of the picture, I would respect if you chose to do anything similar, however I understand what he did for LTC pulling out would not necessarily be the same as you.

Hi there, I sent you a free pack of steemmonsters too! :-)

Oh wow awesome! Will save for tonight to open up, thank you so much!

Agree! Sell your steem @ned, allow us to buy some cheaper. <3

Thanks for the quick response. I hear you man, my apologies if I helped fan the flames but when you get stuff popping up on your Google news feed it is already out there. You got this geeks support, go steemit.

Go Steemit Go! I sent you and Ned a free pack of Steem Monster cards! View them at steemmonsters.com and have a great weekend!! :-)

CAn i get one mam :p

I say "Go @clove71 Go" ... look at you giving out free packs all over the place! Awesome to spread the word @clove71 :)

Fair enough. I have no qualms with that.

THIS response makes NO SENSE! Why don't you use THIS NETWORK to write DAILY ARTICLES about who you are and WHAT you are doing for this Network, instead of communicating only on Telegram and Twitter?

It seems like all you've done is create nothing but confusion and failure on this platform...

I’ve been predominantly active on my blog lately. Not sure what to make of the rest of the comment. @steemitblog also represents what I am doing so pls subscribe. —Ned

who is he and why are you so aware of what he does with his money.

One of the founders of Steem

oh in that case I thank you @ned from all Venezuelans users, steemit is being a great help in these dark times.

Actually it's @ned .. I recommend @mastermagician finding out more about who Ned Scott & Dan Larimer @dantheman are, what they do and where they're coming from. There's plenty online about them & it will further brighten these 'dark times'

thanks for the correction and for your good wishes, some day venezuela will be free and all of you are invited to this tropical paradise, @itwaspunk my stores will accept steem as payment.

I'm impressed he personally replied. Most people on Steem seem to be losing their minds over the power down.

Same. Yeah its also because of the bitcoin price, its a stressful time for a lot of people.

@ned is always under the spotlight and will be criticized by some people no matter what he does. He is in a position where he must balance his own life, the Steemit organization, and every wild expectation the public might have. Ironically, this is largely due to the huge success that Steemit has become.

Speaking for myself, from my little corner of Steemit, I want to thank @ned for developing a great platform and continuing to drive improvements and innovations. Don't let any of this banter distract you from your mission.

I am in the camp that it is your money and you can do whatever you want with it.

Then why did you even write this article...? 🤔

Nothing personal (you know I appreciate your doings on Steem), but I think headlines like this are the ones that foster the panic on the platform instead of helping to look at things more rationally.

I'd suggest to contact people directly if you're in need of such information in the future. Why would we force anyone in the community to tell us openly what they are planning to do with their money?

Steem on! :-)

Hey @surfermarly,

I appreciate your posting on here as well :)

I felt the situation was beyond the fostering of panic stage as I read an article about it from a post in the ico examiner that came up on my Google news feed. Unfortunately perception is improtant in this emerging world especially from Ned. My opinion on what he does with the money is irrelevant. I also felt the post was pretty positive, supportive and inquisitive not a means to foster panic. I even gave reasons not to panic in it :p. Also I do not really use discord or have contact with Ned by another means and this is something people really wanted to know.
