If you've been around SteemIt for long enough you have probably seen that occasionally a post happens that people talk about for weeks, or even forever. Most of us try to put out engaging content, however once in a while a Steemian creates something so epic it goes down in SteemIt History.
Here are a few of the posts that I consider to be Historic Steem Posts.
The Make Up Tutorial that rocked the world!
This post originated in the early days and it's epicness had a lot to do with the rewards as "The First Make-Up Tutorial" was mostly talked about due to it's massive rewards. $31,543.06.
You read that right this pretty gal managed to nab a $31,543.06 with a well done and fun video. Some loved it and of course the envy factor was in full play even back then. Some were mad about the drain on the reward pool, while others didn't feel a "Pretty Girl" should be able to earn so much. :) The video sparked much conversation and several other posts!
Including this fun parody from rolandp
To this day you can bring up the "Make Up Post" and most people will know what you are talking about.
The next post on my list was famous not only for the amount of money that it made, but also because of WHO made it and what he did with it.
The Dollar Vigilante's Introduction post ruffled more feathers than Jerry Banfiend's new account creating idea.
https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@dollarvigilante/the-dollar-vigilante-is-now-on-steemit
By Introduction posts the post was pretty average, but when the post received $15,967.63 That got people talking, but it wasn't all about the money. Jeff isn't everyone's cup of tea and he used that post to advertise which some felt was bad for a number of reasons. He took that post and created an advertising campaign for his site and SteemIt that many found offensive. Reasons I remember hearing: He bring the wrong crowd, he is a scammer, he made us look like a get rich scheme. There has always been opinions on SteemIt about who we should try to attract and how. :)
The last post, I want to share today, had more to do with steem drama and fun than anything else, the recording of a fyrstikken rant edited and posted by @berniesanders This one should be listened to in a kid free zone! :)
https://steemit.com/steemit/@berniesanders/a-viking-tells-us-how-he-really-feels-about-steemit
The entertainment value of a good Fyrstikken rant is off the charts! Also, this was also fun when many Steemians enjoyed Fyrst's rant. Since then I think that Bernie and Fyrst have developed a friend if not sometimes tense truce. After all they are both "Bigger than Life" whales on SteemIt. Not everyone is going to like all that they do.
I will be doing at least one more of these posts in the next couple of days, hoping invoking some memories in Long Term Steemians, and sharing some of our history with those who have joined us more recently.
Any posts that you would like to see in future versions of this, please put them in the comments, let's talk about them.
I’ll just leave this here:

Another post with great earnings
And that post was made back when STEEM wasn't worth much. Imagine the payout now. It has to be worth so much more. The SBD alone from that is worth 30k.
Would ya just look at that!
I'm kinda bummed cuz I voted for this like an hour ago when it first came out, and my vote didn't go through since steemit is slow right now. So I went back and saw it didn't go through. So mad. Now I'm back and it's already up to $76. I don't get to cash in on my .002 cents I would have made on the curation! Oh well. Hope you enjoy my .25 upvote anyway.
Haha! Thanks for the attempt, I gave you a few extra pennies in the vote for coming back! :) lol
HA HA HA! That's more than I would have earned on the curation rewards. So maybe we should make a thing of it. You post, I go in an hour later and whine about how I didn't get in in time, and then you upvote my comment 100%. Good plan?
He he he.

You might need to do an encore to this one. lol
Well that last one is truly hilarious. I had actually seen that Meme a few times but I never knew about the audio.
I've watched it several times and it still makes me laugh!
I love the part when he says if you've already f*** yourself, go f*** yourself again!
That part and when he called us "Fucking Numbskulls". lol He's great.
I cant even imagine one of my post reacbing as high as those first two. @jjjjosue showed me that last video as an introduction to the platform way back in septemeber when i started. This is the beauty of curation that I think only people like yourself that have been here since the beginning can accomplish. This is awesome, cant wait to see more.
Checked the girl's profile and wallet.
She disappeared long ago.
Yeah, after that she and her twin hooked up to do the "Steem Power Twin" things. They disappeared into the sunset after doing a crowdfund campaign that didn't go well.
Now this was a fun read. Loved every minute. Seriously, good times. Memory lane. Aaah.
I came back to say I have finally skimmed through the comments in that makeup post. All I can say is LMAO .... so much buthurt in the comment section. Good for that woman to make so much. Rumor has it ... If you listen closely ... while reading that thread .. you can almost hear the cries of the man who wrote personal information about his GF while complaining about his job.
Its time to watch the parody video ......... I have my fingers crossed that the comments are just as good.
Edit : Wow ... the post spun a bunch of other parody post and some of those also reached into the thousands. Amazing ...
It is totally entertaining!
All hail the n2!
That tdv post got me to dust off my reddit account and sign up.
You see! beautiful face and beautiful body can earn as fast as that, it's so easy for that girl, yeah but she's so pretty though
How do you know it was easy. Wah wah.
You know what makes life hard? Thinking that everyone else has it easy
Now I get it. Bernie and Fryst did kiss and make up. Nine months after that one-night stand, a beautiful bouncing baby Hae-Hae was born.
Literally i got surprised while going trough all these posts and it was fun too because the way Steemit was in early days, now the picture is totally changed and specially regarding the payouts because before the payouts are reflecting really awesome and in my opinion this is because, possibly combination of unique post and rate of competition was less. Whatever it is, it was really fun to read and watch. Thanks for sharing this post with us and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
Keep in mind while all this was happening I made 95 posts that earned so little they held no payout at all.
Things were different, but for most of us they weren't easy. :)
Absolutely right and that's why i never gave up and always strived hard and do you know it's 4 AM while typing this comment, and i know how i gone through from 7 months but i am happy because my hard work is paying off slowly and gradually. Thanks for sharing your experience and that is really valuable because experiences can make our mind set more strong. Below i am sharing my link about my journey of 7 months and i created my post when i got 1000 followers and i am just sharing this link to share my experience.

Wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
Well, that was a fantastically informative post. I didn't know about any of this stuff, except this:
Having heard him once, this was obvious. lol! Thanks for the run down. Always fun to learn more about the lot-so-long history of Steem.
I wasn't around for either of those moments but they all sound so interesting that now i will have to catch up on all of them.
I remember posts mashing thousands in the days before the so-called bots. The make-up post had a vote from Ned, but he doesn't seem to vote so much now. Some of the comments made huge amounts too. Things have certainly changed, but not always for the better. Massive payouts may get headlines, but set wrong expectations. I'm interested to see where Steemit will be in another couple of years
As a new Steemian, I don't have the benefit of hindsight to view those posts with. However, I did randomly come across the Dollar Vigilantes post yesterday as a matter of coincidence or synchronicity, however you want to frame it. ;)
I had no idea what he'd gone on to do with his 'earnings' afterwards. It's real shame to hear stories of these smash and grabs. Fortunately, Steemit, has the safeguard in place of the staggered power down mechanic in place to prevent any real damage being done.
Still though, like you say, it does cast a negative light on what is for the most part a thriving and engaging community, if you come from a place of authenticity and willingness to engage.
Well, I think part of the reason with both the Makeup girl and TDV is partly the never ending complaining and attacking that happens in the community. :)
Wow .. I had no idea about those post. Great Idea for a topic.
$31 000 for a post ... amazing ....
I will have to keep an eye out for your next installment of this. I haven't been around long enough to encounter one of these epic posts. The closest I can think of was a suggestion post in which the suggestion was to up the min payment of rewards to upwards of $1. The post it self didn't earn any record breaking money but did spark allot of conversation.
Wow this is crazy!
How many price SBD and Steem at the time?
The SBD peg worked pretty well at the time, so one SBD.
Steem was $4-2 during most of this time. :)
I think at that time the price still has not reached a dollar, so they can get that much reward. whether it was a new steemit running?
It still amazes me how some posts can earn so much on Steemit. It just goes to show that this new 'social media' blockchain is continuing to gain massive momentum and is also sparking genuine community.
Woow, I'm in Steemit since August of last year, and I did not know the first two posts, it's amazing how much money they got with just one post, it's outrageous. Is there a place where I can see the best-paid Steemit publications in the form of a ranking or something?
I remember when that makeup post hit the scene -- what a wild time that way!
Things were different back then. 🤗
Am sorry @whatsup, my brain is still in boot mode after reading that a post made $31,000+. I think I'll go to bed now...lol
For more depression tips, check the comments. Yeah, you're welcome.
Rumors around @guerrint that she lied that she had a huge following on YouTube lol
Ah the good old days of average posts making thousands. A pretty girl in a tight T-Shirt always seems to do well around here and why not. Users reward what they like.
I'm actually impressed that the sex factor really doesn't do that well. She was the first one to make a "How To Video", I say she deserved every penny. :)
Absolutely. There has to be some substance behind the initial eye catching interest. We only reward what we think deserves it.
@whatsup,
I tried all the way to make money in decent! But WTF, got low audience all the times!
Now you gave me a good hint (A tip)
I will wear an underwear, get body painting and act like @$#%$*% :D
Let's see how much I can earn and @ned will give his 100% upvote on me lol :D
Cheers~
