Very interesting post with a lot of food for thought. Many of the comments below refer to producing content of value. Whilst I agree with that 100% I have also seen some posts with payouts of $1000 that didn't really seem to offer much valuable content...value is subjective of course, so sometimes things simply trend when one whale whimsically likes that particular content. So I do think things are a lot more random than they should be. Having said that, I love Steemit and the interesting things one discovers here everyday.

I do agree some of the posts on trending dont seem to justify the payouts they get but then the community seems to think otherwise and they have the votes and that's the end results. We just have to accept it. Im with you on this.
