There isn't just one single kind of person who builds bots. There are several. The good guys already banded together, adopted a code of conduct and are busy exploring ways of building helpful bots.

But we were starting to do that before there was ever talk of a rep system.
The so called bad guys, are people playing a different game than we are. They are currently working to build an extortion racket to hold your reputation hostage and produce spam that cannot be censored, but that will make the trending page and stay there, sucking the money out of our economy.
In the meantime, we dropped on a bomb on a city in order to deprive the other side of factory workers, only to find the city we dropped it on was our capital.
Would have been better to look at what they're building and why they are building it and adjusting the rules so those people can make more money doing positive tasks than negative tasks.
