IS CAFFEINE REALLY THAT BAD FOR YOU? (HOW TO BREAK THE ADDICTION)

in #steemit7 years ago

Up to 400 mg (milligrams) of caffeine a day appears to be the safe ammount for most healthy adults. That's the roughly ammount of caffeine in 4 cups of brewed coffee, 10 cans of Coca-Cola or 2 cans of energy drinks. No matter in which form you intake caffeine, it affects your body the same way. If the caffeine no longer has the same effect on you, your daily consumption is out of control and it's leading you to health problmes, this is the article for you. Many people struggle with caffeine addiction (by drinking coffee or energy drinks) in their everyday life and here are some tips to lose the habit.

First off, you should know the risks of too much caffeine ingestion. If you cannot function properly without at least 3 cups of coffee a day, you should admit to yourself that you're addicted. Too much caffeine can cause the feeling of nervousness and restlessness, which can affect your mood and daily chores. It can also cause stomach irritation, nausea and in some extreme cases even vomiting. It increases your heart rate which can also lead to other heart problems and it affects your respiratory system negatively, especially your lungs.
Not to mention, when you stop consuming caffeine, you can experience the withdrawal from it, which can include severe headaches and nausea. So, what is the best way to beat your caffeine addiction?
If you ask me, there are 2 ways you can do it:

  1. THE COLD TURKEY METHOD
The most affective, but also the most painful method is the cold turkey method. It basically suggest you to stop consuming caffeine immediately and deal with the consequences. You may experience the side effects mentioned above, such as headache, nausea and nervousness, but after 2-3 days, as claimed by scientists, the withdrawal loses its power and you can continue to live your life as if you've never had a single cup of coffee
  2. THE WEANING METHOD
With this method the person gradually reduces the ammount of caffeine they are consuming daily, instead of quitting all at once. It helps you keep track of your addiction and makes you more motivated abou it, simply by the progress you can see each and every day. I suggest you plan when you want to be completely caffeine free and lower your caffeine consumption so on that day it plumits to zero. For an example, you drink 5 cups of coffee a day and you wnat to quit completely in 5 days. What you do is, you drink one less cup of coffee every day and on the fifth day you'll be drinking your last cup of coffee :)
I hope this helped you, feel free to follow and upvote, I'll make sure I do the same for you :)

I average three cups per day so I hope that is OK. While three cups is on the edge of too much and could have extra a negative, I love the taste of coffee so it makes me happy. Happy people are usually healthier and live longer so that is my rationalization.

haha I drink 3 cups too. Lifts me up and makes me happy too, but when u think about it, youre just happier because you got the dose you needed, youd be happier if you didnt need any. but it tastes so good oh my god
