RE: Learning How To Spot Spun Content

in #steemitabuse8 years ago

I'm glad you put this post together I have been noticing many "well upvoted" posts that seemed to lack a coherent writing structure. I understand we have non-English native speakers/writers here at Steemit, so was always wary of commenting, just in case. But the more I thought about it the more I feel that there is a small, but noticable difference between writers of a non-English background, and these bot generated and manipulated articles. It can be subtle, but the writing from those of a non-English background still has a flow to it, a readability within the grammatical errors. And these errors have a consistency to them, due to the way that writer thinks in their own language but that doesn't always translate 100%.

The fraudulent type articles can be close, but they lack the consistent structure. And some I have read have been so bad, that even all the comments were something like: "this is just word vomit"!

But it's the deliberate upvoting of what is clearly bad writing, and possibly fraudulently produced content that bothers me. I think it's actually a threat to the integrity of the Steemit project.
