365 Days of Gratitude: Day 11 - Pasta

in #steemitblog5 years ago

Listen, I'm not going to pretend that I'm any kind of cook, I'm basically useless in almost every way when it comes to the kitchen, but if there's one thing that I can sort of pull off with any kind of consistency, it would have to be pasta. With limited ingredients in my house and a passionate aversion to grocery shopping on Sundays, my options were limited as to what I could make myself for dinner. When I opened the fridge to see what mediocre dish I could piece together, I noticed some chicken and a bunch of vegetables that needed to get used up. Thinking back to what my grandma told me about making pasta (and soup for that matter) provided that your ingredients can somewhat work together.

Seeing as I'm a dope with an unrefined palate — I'll literally eat anything or at least try it once — I can get away with throwing about anything in a tomato sauce. Carrots, onions, peppers, broccoli, garlic, spices, with a little bit of red wine and all of a sudden, you've got something passable meal, at least I think I do. As far as I could tell, my sauce was decent and the pasta was well cooked so that seemed like a bachelor meal gone right. So with that, I say thanks pasta for making it seem like I can be a functioning adult sometimes.

Sort:

Got to be grateful for pasta, i feel you... about to go cook some pasta with whatever is left on the fridge and just make some magic happen.
