My son @judethedude is a massive Minecraft fan - much like most other kids his age no doubt lol!! But to be honest, I am seldom shown much of what goes on with his "world" and activities therein... although the other night he came to me and told me that he had built a house for us.
Some of you may know that we are looking at the prospect of moving out of suburbia and more up country in the next year or so and so we have been exploring all sorts of housing / building options... and in his own little way he thought he would contribute. When he approached me to ask if he could show me what he had built, I honestly did not expect to be presented with what he did!
I was absolutely BLOWN away!!! He is 8 years old!!! And he built this INCREDIBLY complex architectural structure from the ground up! I saw what was involved in simply changing lawn into paving and it is a really time consuming task! "Proud mommy" would be the understatement of the year - and I know that his "poppy" (my dad) who has always has a great passion of his own for architecture will definitely hold a special appreciation for this too - as I have held on to it to show him this post :)
The photos taken were whilst the house was still incomplete and he had not even done the interiors yet. I have been nagging him ever since to take some more photos and asked him again now but he was on his way out the door to go play soccer, so needless to say I was not going to get my way haha!!!
He even considered my love for gardening and made sure there were plenty of beautiful flowers everywhere! I was so truly gobsmacked by this "gift" from my beautiful little boy... he truly is one in a million. I just wish the house was real!!! hahaha!!! I will be sure to do an update when I manage to nab some more photos :)
Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx

Awe, that was so thoughtful of him, thinking about all the details and adding a garden for you! It's amazing what kids can do in that game. You might already know this, but I'll say it anyway. Be careful about who he lets in. My daughter made something really beautiful that she called the love garden. She worked so hard on it, and when she changed the setting to let in 'friends of friends,' someone came and set everything on fire.
A very sweet kid though. Thanks for sharing! :)
oh shame!!!!! :( Thats terrible @snowpea - I can imagine that as a little girl she would have been devastated - I know I would have!! lol - but these boys are something else.... he connects with his friends and they blew up all their houses and set Judes garden on fire... he was SO upset!!!! He is such a sensible and sensitive little boy.... he most likely knows about that aspect but I will definitely run it past his ears again - even though I will most likely get lectured hahahaha....
ps. I have not forgotten about your Q&A - I have just been spending a little more time with Jude the last few days as I felt he needed it. Will do it tomorrow as he is back at school.
Lovely to see you stop by hon xxx
Kids can be so mean sometimes, but we learned our lesson lol. My daughter and maybe your son are too trusting, and think everyone is a friend lol.
No worries about the challenge. Whenever you get around to it is fine! Glad you're doing it at all haha! :D Children come first! :)
Thats so true!! Kids can really be the pits sometimes lol... to each other that is. And yes, jude has a very soft and kind heart so can often get taken advantage of, although... he is nobodys fool.
Am planning to do it tomorrow and looking forward to it @snowpea :)
Whoa, he got talent in architecture! Amazing villa suits for the family. Mine was with LEGO last time.
Jude absolutely LOVES LEGO too @kimzwarch!!! - aaaannnnnd he alsooo loves MINECRAFT LEGO lol :)
Whoa, lego all the way! Fascinating to see how creative he is with those blocks.
Absolutely!!! I was really blown away
Never played this before but I do like his creativity :)
Thank you @wrecktangle27 and yes, I have to admit... so do I :)
Maybe the developers at Minecraft will build a real one identical to that for you because it’s awesome! 🤔😃
Posted using Partiko iOS
Now that would sure be grand!!! hahaha :)
I played Minecraft all day Monday while Steemit was down. Soon I'm planning on posting a blog of my Minecraft world I've been playing on the last 4 and a half years.
If you go into appdata on your computer, your Minecraft folder should have a folder of all the screen shots made during in game play. Press F2 during game play to take screen shots. This is how I plan on putting together a Minecraft blog of my world. From all the screen shot I've been taking.
thats awesome!!! But you are speaking to a total noob here (as far as minecraft is concerned lol) - and Jude plays on his tab not on pc.... although maybe I should hook him up on his laptop.
I'm still getting the hang of it too. I still have yet to figure out how to build some of these red stone contraptions people make. Four and a half years and I'm still learning how to build houses here LOL. Here it is I got my wife addicted to this game and now she is better at it then I am. I'm good at survival mode playing for adventure. She is good at creative mode building houses like your son is. She has built several houses like the one your son built. Her latest creation was modifying a desert pyramid into a fortress.
hahahaha WOW that sounds bloody amazing!!! - Don't let ME get started hahaha.... my family will fall apart as nothing will get done LOL
He will be a great architect one day!!! Oh and how cool it would be if you could just move in that house, right? :D You should absolutely get such a mansion!
hehehe yes that would be SUPER cool!!!! And yes, I believe that whatever he chooses to do he will be brilliant at it!
Minecraft is a lot of fun and a great way to express creativity. This looks awesome. Looking forward to more pics.
He sure seems to love it @whs... alongside roblox and monster legends lol :)
He nailed it. My lad, @henryclarke does timed building competitions on minecraft servers.
They all race to meet the design brief, and each gets to vote on all of their competitors at the end.
Buildwars maybe?
Oh that sounds VERY interesting @mattclarke! It would be great to learn more about this from @henryclarke. Jude (@judethedude) generally detests reading lol so the briefs may bore him, but then again - if it is something he is passionate about, which this certainly sparks... he may actually be enthusiastic to do so :)
Thank you for sharing this... hope to hear more from your friend :)
Looking nice!
Minecraft: basically Legos unlimited.
hahaha true story!!! :)
Wow, that is an impressive building that he has done! I am a pretty hard-cord gamer, and I had a toy around with Minecraft before it got huge. It was really interesting what was possible in the sandbox, but in the end it wasn't really my type of game. But I love how it unleashes the creativity in kids, it really is the digital LEGO! You can even build working circuits and computers in it!
Thanks @bengy!! Yeah I was SUPER impressed too! It really is, and he absolutely LOVES lego too :)
This is pretty awesome for an 8-year-old! Perhaps one day he will be a famous architect! Mommy is right to be so proud of him!
Thank you @cecicastor :D
I just showed my 8 yr. old daughter your son's construction right now. And she said "WOW that is really cool" :) And she plays Minecraft ;)
hahaha AWESOME!!! Jude's too young to date hey :P hehehehe :)
I'm coming to you Jude if I ever get the opportunity to build!! 😍😍 haha! Sooo much awesomeness!!
My brother and sister play a lot of this and they love it!! Brilliant for the creative mind! Though the music on it frys my brain! 😂 lol
LOL have never actually heard the music as I always tell Jude to mute it or put headphones on... monontony at its worst lol
That's really amazing. My kids like to play Minecraft too, but I admit to not getting it. When I ask, they say they like to build things at which point I tell them they can help make our house better by vacuuming, scrubbing the floors, trimming the yard, etc. For some reason they think Minecraft is better than the more productive tasks that I propose.
Proud member of #steemitbloggers @steemitbloggers
LOL!!!! Hmmmm I wonder why that is dad..... hehehehe ;)
That is amazing - I think maybe Jude should start his own vision board.
lol EXCELLENT idea!!!
Going up in the world then jaynie
