Many people upvote and resteem as the more that post earns, the more they will benefit in SP rewards - and SP is really the secret of it all in my opinion. Without SP of any decent value, you cannot do a whole lot.
As for the content feeds, yes - they are a mess and that is because (i think anyway) there is the possibility of earnings and when there is money involved in ANYTHING there are always a million and one chancers - which sadly, then subjects us to all the CRUD that floats down the steemit feeds. As for the people you follow... if you dont like what they are doing, then simply unfollow them. No need to subject yourself to that kind of torture hahahaha!!!

@jaynie ok, that helps with understanding the re-steem. Maybe I should start an account dedicated to re-steems? And yes, I have started unfollowing people. And muting them.... 😆
