This is VERY cool, thank you so much for sharing it with us! I have never heard of this festival before, you're right. In my tradition, the God of the Sun's name is Lugh. He is often given a title that basically means, "God of many talents."

Thats for sure God Sun have great source of various energy. We usually pray to Sun and her mother Usha.
