Amazing story! I have a sort-of similar one. My Dad emotionally abused me for most of my adult life and a good part of my childhood. He'd do things that would make me feel worthless; I've never been hugged by my real Dad. I write a lot about him
Yet when he died in 201(1?) - I grew immeasurably. Blossomed like a little summer flower blooming on a beautiful hot day :)
