Where Does the Term Honeymoon Come From!
I come up with 4 explanations:
Honeymoon was the month after a wedding, when the bride's father would give the groom all the mead he wanted. Mead is a honey beer while the Babylon calendar was a lunar calendar. The Babylonians started calling the month the "honey month" but we now call it a "honeymoon"
The Scandinavian word for honeymoon is derived, in part, from an ancient Northern European custom in which newlyweds, for the first month of their married life, drank a daily cup of honeyed wine called mead. The ancient practices of kidnaping of bride and drinking the honeyed wine date back to the history of Atilla, king of the Asiatic Huns from A.D. 433 to A.D. 453.
One piece of folklore relates that the origin of the word moon comes from a cynical inference. To the Northern Europeans the terms referred to the body's monthly cycle and, its combination with honey, suggested that not all moon's of married life were as sweet as the first. British prose writers and poets, in the 16th and 17th centuries, often made use of the Nordic interpretation of honeymoon as a waxing and waning of marital affection.

...and there I was thinking it had to do with the fact that the couple are but naked the entire month and the amount of moons they see every day was why it was a sweet month in which they called each other "Honey" and the moons.... well.... that goes without saying!
Just to get to the modern world......
Nowadays you can tell a young couple in love by the way they talk on their mobile phones.... Honey, kis kis... and so on....
The way one knows that a relationship is coming to an end is when a guys phone rings and after he sees that it's his wife you here him say "It's the bat phone"

Hahahaha.... this is a good one and since the blog is posted under the #whysoserious i will answer the following:
It is obvious that the the term is composed from two words.. honey and moon.
Once you get married your life will be the same like the one from the Moon... say what?? Yes you got that right.. there is no life there and yours will be the same!
The term honey it's just a trap to hide obvious the danger and the life you will have... or if you want.. well you will have no life but some sweet moments once in a while. Very dangerous word as many have not see what actually was hidden behind it.
Without being sexist i think the term of honeymoon was invented by woman's simple to hide what is going to happen with you after you get married!

Honeymoon is one word but two meaning indeed.
Honeymoon is a spend many time with & together newly married couple.
Inside the room first time they have arranging to first experience of sex,
Husband talking to wife:
" HONEY come to me babe"
Honey equals to lady becoz she has looking very beautiful in wedding night. I have
heared before women lips have meaning honey been.So Honey come from there.
Moon is delightful object.Honeymoon will be memorable ocassion for newly married couples.
moon has been equals marriage life. After coming wife to husband`s new life, will be
delightful like as moon.

I am actually don't know how this word comes from History! But in my country, now a days HoneyMoon is using to describe just after the wedding the couple is going to a hotel and spend few wonderful days there. That time period is calling as Honeymoon in my country now a days!
For me it was an awesome day :D But I assure I didn't see the moon at that day :D lol :D

As you know I am interested in witch craft.Of course white witch craft :)
And it is said that couples used to get married during the harvesting season mostly in June. People wanted to get sons more than daughters in that time. So for that reason the new married couple had to eat honey for one moon, to conceive a son. And thats why it is called honeymoon :) And this word must be some centuries old.

Sorry i only understand the Honeymoon is after get married but in some countries people only say that the couples are went only of moon because the honey they are ate and enjoyed before to get married.
Because the most common couples enjoy their bodies before the married.
It is importance period to enjoy after married.

having been under all the first full month, all stages of the moon, together is the honey moon. as sweet as honey is love the first month. Just married couples are suspected to go and multiply , there for the bride had to drink a load of herbed wine, that would help to make her pregnant, and ofcourse the groom had benefits of a drunken bride. Now couples use their Honey moon more to go on a trip.
