Money is one of the most important things today. All the things that surround us need money.

From birth to death people need money.

In the Philippines, our money is called Philippine Peso. It is denominated from Php1,000.00, Php500.00, Php200.00, Php100.00, Php50.00, Php20.00 with coins such as P10.00, Php5.00, Php1.00, Php0.50, Php0.25, Php0.10, Php0.5 and Php0.01.

Money is produced by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). Did you know that prior to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Philippine National Bank (PNB) is the one who prints the money for the Filipinos? (you got it right) PNB which was endorsed today by the celebrity power couple, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera.

In producing money, it went to several procedures and will take several days to complete. Papers used in printing money is very special for it is composed of 80% cotton and 20% Philippine Abaca which gives distinctive texture(roughness) to our money. Paper bills were printed to Offset printing where 15 to 20 colors were printed and afterwards, it was then sent to Intaglio printing where the embossed of the paper bills were made.

Last December 2017, the New Design Series (NDS) Philippine Money was demonetized and was replaced with the New Generation Currency (NGC). The NGC now is more secure and much harder to counterfeit due to its security features. The NGC has a bright color design where Philippine Heroes and Presidents were placed in front. In addition, at the back portion of the money, it showcased the beautiful places and animals which are native in the Philippines.

For the Php 1,000 bill, the beautiful Tubatahha Reef of Sulu, and the South Sea Pearl.

The Philippine money represents the artistry and diversity of the Philippines.

With this, it makes me feel proud and loved our country. It makes me want to visit and see the places showcased in our money.

The most common question when it comes to money is, Why can't BSP produce more money to pay our debt?

BSP only produces money that is needed in our economy. When too many money was produced, it will create inflation, and the prices of the basic needs will shoot up. When people have too much money, its value will lessen so the prices will go up. If this happens, the economy of the Philippines will go down to ashes and all will suffer.

So let's give thanks to our Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in maintaining the balance of our economy.

I hope with this article, it will make you feel proud as a Filipino and will take care of your money more.

Save it and spend it wisely!
