The dad that made a plan - Reading exercise and questions for kids Gr 2

in #steemiteducation7 years ago (edited)

Mr Peters has a big problem... His kids love to watch television.

That is all they do every single day when they come from school and on weekends they do not move away from the television for the whole day.

They eat in front of the television and sometimes even sleep there.  They do not do any homework, they just stay infront of the television.

That is all they are interested in.  Just watching television and nothing else.

Mr Peters tries everything to get them away from the television.  He tells them their eyes are going to go square shaped if they watch television the whole day, he tells them they are going to fail school and he even pleads that they go outside for a little while, but nothing helps, the kids just sit there, eyes glued to the screen.

Eventually Mr Peters is sick and tired of this and he decides he is going to hide the TV.

When the kids get home from school they are very upset because there is no TV.  "What are we going to do?" they ask their dad.

"You will just have to find something else to do," Mr Peters says, "but there will be no more watching TV the whole time."

The kids are a bit confused, but after a while they start doing other things.  Benny starts reading a lot of books, Joe starts playing with his toys and Susan starts playing the piano again - they have not done this in a while and very soon they are enjoying it a lot.

The kids even go outside and build a beautiful tree house for themselves.

Mr Peters is very happy with how the kids have changed and that they are even now doing their homework and he decides after a few weeks he will bring the TV back so that they can watch it now and then.

But the kids carry on with their different activities and while Mr Peters watches TV alone, they are still reading and playing with their toys and playing piano and they also play together in the tree house.

They are having such a lot of fun, they have totally forgotten about the TV.
