Hello Steemians,,,!!!
Today I would like to share an interesting post that I am sure all of you nature-loving and self-sufficient people would like to read.
Many farmers and gardeners, especially here in Indonesia, often complain about how viciously their Chilli plants are attacked by pests and diseases. This often forces countries to import healthier Chillis from areas such as Thailand, Malaysia, the Philllipines and other South Eastern Asian countries.
What is a Chilli?
A Chilli is a plant that bares fruit that has a very spicy flavour and it is often used by all households while preparing food.
Because it is a popular addition to meals in households and catering businesses, Chillis have become plants that are often planted by farmers to meet the demands and make a good profit.
Growing Chillis
A popular way to grow Chillis is to plant them in polybags. This method allows the farmer to control the growth and harvest of the crops better and they also do not need to use up land. The problem with this method however is that roots are not given much space to grow, which in effect results in a very weak plant trunk too. In fact, this method also encourages defective leaf growth and less fruit.
I would like to share an effective growing technique with you.
Steps on how to grow strong and healthy Chilli plants :
- Plant your seeds or saplings in a poly bag.
- As it grows, remove unhealthy branches until you have a single stem, like a yam/cassava tree.
- Spray the stems/trunks with an organic plant hormone serum.
- Wrap the roots of the plant (contained in the polybag) up in a white plastic bag and seal it so that anaerobic fermentation can take place.
- Wait for about 3 weeks or until buds appear in the stem and then remove the bag and flush the plant with water.
- Water and care for the plant as usual.
This technique can be done over and over again with every harvest. Eventually you will have nice big and strong tree trunks. This method is also extremely cost effective, allowing farmers to save on capital and generate good profits at the same time.
Best of luck,,,!
