Today I want to tell you a simple story you can share with young children about how a little hard work and creativity can help you reach your goals in life. It is important to work hard to achieve your ambitions in life. When working hard you may find that your methods of reaching your goals might not work. That is when creativity and ingenuity are useful. When one method doesn't work, find a new method. It's not easy to attain some goals and you might have to try a variety of techniques to achieve success.

The Boy Who Wanted To Fish

Once upon a time there was a ten year old boy who who loved to provide fish for his family. Everyday, after school, the young boy would go to the beach to go fishing. He didn't have many tools to fish. He only had a simple fishing pole and some bait.

Even though the boy worked hard with his simple fishing pole, he wasn't always successful. There would be days he did well and would catch enough fish to feed his entire family. Other days he wouldn't catch any fish at all. The young boy often felt like he was a failure. He fished everyday and worked very hard to catch fish to feed his family. On days he barely caught any fish he was disappointed with himself.

One night the boy was lying in bed thinking about how hard he worked to catch fish. He felt that his hard work should result in him catching enough fish for his family, but that wasn't always the case. Then the boy got a brilliant idea! He thought about using two fishing rods instead of one.

The next day the boy returned to the beach to fish with two rods. He was more successful catching fish and was able to feed his entire family that day. The boy was so excited his new method worked that he decided more fishing rods meant more success. The boy decided to find more fishing rods.

Everyday the boy would return to the beach with more fishing rods until he had five rods with lines and hooks in the water. With five fishing rods the boy was busy all day catching fish after fish. The boy then decided to add a net to his methods of catching fish. He returned to the beach the next day and set up five fishing rods and a net. He continued to be successful and caught more fish than his family could eat.

Over time, the boy noticed that he caught less and less fish with his methods until one day he couldn't catch any fish. Day after day the boy returned to the beach with his five fishing poles and net but did not catch any fish.

The boy had caught so many fish that there were none left to catch. The boy wondered if he would have to go out to sea to catch fish because there were no more near the beach. He was left to think of his next plan to catch fish and how he would find and catch them.

Conclusion

The lesson of this story is that it takes both hard work and careful thinking to get the results we want in life. The boy wanted more fish so he figured out how to get them. When his fishing spot ran out of fish then the boy was forced to think about the situation critically to figure out new ways to find fish to feed his family. It isn't always easy to support a family and sometimes you have to be creative and think hard to find new ways to reach your goals. For young children it is important that they learn to never give up on their dreams. If they want to be successful then they have to learn new ways to thrive and do well in life.
