Hello Steemian friends!
Today I want to share with you my insights with @steemiteducation's current homework topic: How do you motivate a child to reach his full potential?
I must say, this one is a difficult question for me to answer because based on my experience, I discovered my passion and potential on my own. This is not to brag but in all honesty. My skills for writing was not seen by my parents and so, I independently found ways to hone it myself. Well, with this post I want to share with you my simple strategies on how can I motivate my children to reach their full potential.
How Do You Motivate Your Child
I have 5 strategies in mind to motivate my child to reach his full potential:
1. Provide Opportunities
Providing opportunities means exposing your child to different activities through attending of workshops and seminars. When children explore new things, they can find themselves unleashing their hidden talents. These skills can put a lot of value in their life.
In my opinion, letting your child participate in summer workshops, seminars or boot camp can help them unleash their hidden talents. It is okay to pay for these programs as long as your child will enjoy and learn something.
2. Praise Your Child
Praising your child for his good deeds and progress can go a long way. This will encourage him to move forward and hone his skills more. Letting your child know that you value their work and are proud can build his self-confidence. Honestly, children are always looking out for their parent's approval so when your child sees you are happy with what they are doing, he will continue in developing his talents.
3. Don't Let Them Be Afraid of Failure
Let me remind you that humans are not robots. We are perfectly imperfect so that means your child too. His journey in honing his skills won't be a walk in the park, believe me. He will make a lot of mistakes along the way and some can greatly affect his progress. Teach your child to not let failure stop him from reaching his dreams. Of course, he should acknowledge his mistake and learn from it as this will help his progress.
Teach him that every failure should be perceived as a learning experience but do your best to only make those mistakes once.
4. Set Goals Together
Being a full-time employee, it is quite difficult for me to be a hands-on mom but I promise my children that I will do my best to guide them in every progress. I believe setting goals together with my children will solidify not only their potentials but our bond as well. Helping them set realistic goals to motivate and drive them.
5. Work With The Teacher
School is their second home and the teachers are said to be their second parents so it is best that you work with their teachers in reaching their goals. Our children spends most of their time with their teachers so it is best to talk to their teachers so they can know more about your child and help the kid reach his full potential.
There you go! These are strategies you can also use for your own children as I believe it can work with anyone. As my children grow, I hope I can stick with these strategies because I believe these are the winning strategies for my children to reach their full potentials.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy this post!

Thank you sis. A must read of parents like us.
thanks for these points. well said. we really need to build confident and curious life long learners and it starts with motivating them. such a vital role we play.
Also, let them have fun while learning. Play a game, take them outside, explore and do some activities together :) I do that, it works :) Xoxo.
Number 5 really hits home with me. If a parent is willing to put up a united front with me (the teacher) there is so much more I can accomplish!
Thanks for the well written article!
