Did you know......

Most of the time what you think you are tasting is actually controlled by what you are smelling? That is why you can say something like, "This tastes like a piece of metal"or "This cheese tastes like a combination of my brother's stinky socks and rotten banana peals."

This doesn't automatically mean that you have eaten these things before, but that you have smelled it. Your taste and smell sensors work together to let you know what you are eating and to enjoy different flavors, or to stay far, far away.

Senses are just one of the many amazing and interesting things that make the human body work like it should.

Here are some more mind blowing facts:

- The rule of opposites attract also applies to the human brain. The right side of the brain is paired up with the left side of the body and the left side of the brain is paired up with the right side of the body.

- Everyday your heart beats hundreds of thousands of times, but listen to this, if you live an average life your heart will have beaten BILLIONS of times. The force that your heart uses every time it beats and squeezes blood through it, is the same a squeezing a tennis ball.

- You might stop growing one day but your ears and nose will continue to grow for the rest of your life!

- If you think that you your pinky finger is just a cute and small edition to your hand, think again! It contributes to HALF of your hand's strength, so give it a little more credit.

- If you though the human colon could stretch out far at almost 2 meters, you should here what DNA can do! If you unwind your DNA it will stretch from Earth to Pluto, AND BACK. *Jaw drops*

- Don't think you have any muscles because you don't gym? It takes almost 200 muscles to take only one step. Pretty ripped!

- Every 10 years you get a renewed skeleton, and the body does it for free. No clinics or expensive treatments necessary.

- Just as your fingerprints have a unique pattern your tongue also has it's own unique print and every person's are different. It is also the largest muscle in the human body.

- In a human's lifetime we will consume the equivalent of 7 elephants weight, in food. That is about 31751.5 kg.

There are so many interesting facts on the human body that it is impossible for me to list every single one and I think scientists discover new facts every day as the technology grows.
