How To Prepare Dragon Fruit Seedlings - Plant Collection Methods

in #steemiteducation7 years ago

To produce a good dragon fruit certainly requires care and good maintenance. Apart from that also must be considered from the beginning of the nursery and planting process goes well. Especially if we want to plant in the pot, would require optimal handling.

To plant dragon fruit in pots, initially must be prepared pot to be used. Pot can be from plastic material, cement, clay or drum used cut. The larger the pot size the better, it is recommended to use pots with diameters above 40 cm.

Next to be prepared is a climbing pole to support the propagation of the plant. Because the branch is heavy, climbing poles should be prepared with a diameter of 8 - 10 cm with a height of about 1-2 meters. Certainly tailored to the size of the pot.

Next is how to prepare the media seedlings, can by making beds or using polybags. Make a planting medium using a mixture of soil and fertilizer. The ratio of the mixture of both materials is preferably 1: 1. Before the seedlings are planted should first flush the seeding medium to keep moisture. Then plug the seeds, the pointed part is below with a depth of about 5 cm. Put the seeds in a place that is protected from direct sunlight. Flush the seeds of dragon fruit about 3 times a day until the plants grow buds.

After the seeds are ready to be moved, for one pole climbing planted four seeds. Seedlings are planted around a climbing pole, the distance between climbing pole and seeds about 10 cm. Make the hole as deep as 5 -10 cm or adjusted to the size of the seedlings. Then the seedlings are placed on the hole and dumped with soil while compacted. After the four seeds have been planted, tie all the seeds so that they stick to the climbing pole. Perform binding of each plant grows along 20-30 cm long. Binding is not too tight to give room for plant growth and so as not to injure the stem.
