Here are two unusual examples of actions that speak louder than words.
First of all, when most people think actions speak louder than words they are imagining someone that claims to be nice but actually isn't.
I'm sure that when the phrase originated this was the context it was meant to be used in.
However, it can be certainly applied to many different situations.
Today I was reminded of two situations in which actions spoke louder than words in a different context then you might imagine.

I came home from work yesterday to find one of my roommates standing in the kitchen.
"Hey man, hung out with Roger today. He made me listen to this long seminar that he had downloaded. Then we had to play this financial game that he likes. I swear, all that guy does is try to get me to become an entrepreneur like he is."
Roger the entrepreneur.
This guy has an online business that has never sold anything. He spends all his time reading books about how to become a millionaire. He puts all his money into making things work in a business capacity but it never happens for him. Honestly, I really do like the guy...... but he can't seem to make an idea work in such a way as to give him money.
If you're not making money then I certainly wouldn't call you an entrepreneur.
However, this guy spends his entire life acting as though he were a successful businessman.
I've had conversations with him about possibly changing his business to something else since the one he's currently working on it doesn't appear to work. However, he is dead set against change. There's no way that he is an entrepreneur. It just doesn't add up.
Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy and I really enjoy spending time with him. I certainly wouldn't sit and watch a long seminar with him. I don't see him as entrepreneurial in any way shape or form. Therefore, his words that say he's an entrepreneur don't meet with his actions that aren't getting him anywhere in the business world.

The second example is a much stranger case.
A few years back I had a roommate that claimed to be a very hateful person. He told me every day how many people and things that he couldn't stand.
In particular, he told me that he hated dogs.
"Can't stand the freaking fleabags." he would smirk with disgust.
One day I came home from work to find him in the backyard with my Boston Terrier. He was throwing the ball back and forth while my dog would retrieve it. They were playing catch.
"Dumb bastard didn't have anyone to play ball with." he muttered before going back inside.
Sometimes he would mention that he thought the stupid dog might need to go out because it was about to rain.
I caught him feeding my dog biscuits on multiple occasions too. He told me that everyone needs biscuits once in awhile even if they are dumb beasts.
My dog loved that guy. He always let him out. He always petted him and gave him treats. He did not know that there was any supposed animosity between them.
My roommates actions did not match up with his words at all. In every way, shape, and form he was absolutely a dog lover..... yet he constantly remarked that he hated dogs.
His actions simply did not vibe up with his words.
As you can see there are multiple ways that actions might not match up with words. It's really interesting if you think about it.
That is quite something to ponder over. Specially the second example.

So true.
I would not yet discount Roger. Consider how many successful Steemians never made any money for months. I think this might include yourself, no? If he never gives up, he will become successful someday. Perhaps, if you stay roommates, you might even be a partner. One caveat, does he cover his rent?
Roger is not the roommate. Roger is the friend of the roommate. However, what he really needs to do is change his business strategy. His original plan is not working. He is dogged and he possibly could become successful someday, but his original business plan is simply not a plan that could possibly work. It has been many many years without him earning one penny.
Point taken.
