This looks really really bizarre. Like on the Easter Island, but replacing the moais (that is the name of the famous statues) by those strange ice sticks.

It is! Well, I'll be completely honest, when I first saw photos of them they first reminded me of the Iron Throne (Game of thrones has wrecked my brain) and then of those beds of nails yogis use. :P
