Actually How Does A Concept To Increase Kids Memory

Each child has different memories in their learning process. This is the difference in ways that can affect the many or fewer items that child can capture. The ability to apply the subjects in the learning used to be one of the factors of children success in improving their memory for a long time.

Tips to Improve Memory

The best tip to reduce forgetfulness is by improving students' sense of mind. There are many tips that students can try to improve their memory. Here are some Tips to Improve Memory, among others, according to Barlow (1985), Reber (1988), and Anderson (1990), how to improve memory is as follows.

1. Overlearning

Overlearning (learning more) means learning efforts that exceed the basic mastery of certain subject matter. Overlearning occurs when a particular response or reaction occurs after the student has learned the response in an out of the ordinary manner. There are many examples that can be used for overlearning, including reading the text of a storybook on a weekly basis 3 times enables the students' memory of the reading material to be stronger.

2. Extra study time

Extra study time is an effort to increase the allocation of study time or the addition of frequency (frequency) of learning activities. The addition of a certain material learning time allocation means that students add hours of study, for example from one hour to an hour and a half. The addition of learning frequency means that students increase the frequency of learning certain material, for example from once a day to twice a day. This tip is considered strategic enough because it can protect the memory from forgetfulness.

3. Mnemonic device

The mnemonic device, often called mnemonic, also means special tricks used as mental "hooks" to incorporate items of information into the student's intellectual system.

Mnemonic device for remembering a list of unrelated items in order: Start at the top of the list and make up an outlandish story connecting the first item to the next, continue by connecting the second item to the third, and so on. When your story is done and the list is removed, you'll have a mental picture of a story that, as you recall its progression, will lead you from one remembered item to the next. Read more...

For example is In computer assembler (or assembly) language, a mnemonic is an abbreviation for an operation. It's entered in the operation code field of each assembler program instruction. For example, on an Intel microprocessor, inc (increase by one) is a mnemonic. On an IBM System/370 series computer, BAL is a mnemonic for branch-and-link.

4. Rhyme

Namely the poem made which consists of words and terms that should be remembered students. This poem will be better influenced when given the notes so it can be sing. The singing of kindergarten children containing moral messages can be taken as an example of mnemonic preparation.

5. Abbreviation

Which consists of the letters of the beginning of the name or term that must be remembered students. For example, if a student wants to make it easier to remember the name of Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Moses can abbreviate it with ANAM. Making abbreviations should be done in such a way that is interesting and has its own impression.

6. Peg Word System

A kind of mnemonic technique that uses components that have previously been mastered as pegs (nails) of new memory hooks. The word component of the peg is formed in pairs such as red-saga, heat-flame. These words are useful for remembering words and terms that have the same traits as: blood, lipstick; pair of heaven and earth; hell, and other words that have the same character (color, taste, and so on).

7. Method of Loci

Namely mnemonic tricks that use special places and famous as a means of placing certain words and terms that should be remembered students. The word "loci" itself is the plural of the word "locus" means place. In this case, the names of cities, streets, famous buildings can be used to place words and terms more or less relevant in the sense of having similarities in features and circumstances. Example: the name of the capital of the United States to remember the name of the country's first president (George Washington). If the teacher requires students to name these names, he or she may have the students "travel" to these places.

8. Key Word System

This one mnemonic trick is relatively new compared to other mnemonic tips. This tip was first developed in 1975 by two psychologists, Raugh and Atkinson (Barlow, 1985). The keyword system is usually engineered specifically to learn foreign words and terms, and is said to be quite effective for teaching foreign languages, English for example. This system is a list of words consisting of the following elements: 1) foreign words; 2) the key words, ie the words of the local language that at least the first tribe have a sound / pronunciation similar to the learned word; 3) the meaning of the foreign word.
