What is A terrestrial ecosystem
Hello all steemians and science lover Now i want to share a simple way how to make a terrestrial ecosystems in miniature. Its miniature is very simple to create. hope you can do it with your student or your kids at home to improve their knowledge about ecosystem.
A terrestrial ecosystem is a type of ecosystem found only on biomes. Six primary terrestrial ecosystems exist: tundra, taiga, temperate deciduous forest, tropical rain forest, grassland and desert. Lets do it..
Materials and tools
- 3 Small plants / grass
- 1 Small twigs
- 20 Small stones
- 1 plastic soil size 1 kg
- 3 Insects
- 3 Worms
- Large jar of cake (transparent) with a lid (cover)
- Screwdriver / big nail
How to create
• Clean the jar by washing.
• Make a few small holes in the lid of the jar using a screwdriver
• Insert small stones at the bottom of the jar.
• Insert the soil about 5 cm thick.
• Insert a small twig into the jar.
• Plant small grass in the jar.
• Insert insects, worms, and other small animals into the jar.
• Flush the inside of the jar with water until moist.
• Cover the jar with a hollowed lid.
How To Usage
a) Place the terrarium in the sunlight.
b) Observe the ecosystems in the terrarium.
c) Discuss the results of the observations
