RE: How to Raise and Support your Child to be Multilingual

in #steemiteducation7 years ago

I have met African-Filipino children here in the Philippines who were restricted to speak other language apart from English. I strongly disagree with that. I made it clear to my man that our baby shall be taught languages that we speak. Igbo, Filipino/Tagalog, Bisaya and English will be her first language influences.
There is beauty being a multilingual

Your kids will learn Filipino and Bisaya since they live there, provided that there are always opportunities to speak in Bisaya with your kids. So I would recommend for them to be exposed and immersed in the English language more and your husband's first language, too, if it's not English.

His first language is English and Igbo.
I am the only one who speaks Bisaya in our house.
I want them to relate to conversations during family gatherings.
That’s why I teach them little by little.
