Rules of exponents.
You will see that I insert my pictures from screenshots I've taken because of the use of exponents which I can't add here.
Where-ever I have to I will insert the images for explanation
Introduction and Lesson presentation
Work with learners to answer the following questions:
Activity 1
Express the following as the product of one repeated factor:
a.) 125
b.) 64
c.) 81
d.) 32
Activity 2
Express the following as the product of 2 factors
a.) 27
b.) 34
Solution:
Activity 1
a.) 125 = 5 x 5 x 5
b.) 64 = 8 x8
c.) 81 = 9 x 9
d.) 32 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2
Activity 2
a.) 27 = 3 x 9
b.) 34 = 2 x 17
NB!! A number that can be expressed as a product of one repeated factor is called a power of that number!!
