That is the thing I love about the internet. It has considerably shrunk the world. How much of a blessing has it been for families who are separated by large distances, or fort showing students different culture that they would otherwise never experience?

Just from a writer's perspective, the Internet has been an indispensable tool for me. Being able to look up information about different events, places and things that I could plausibly incorporate into a story is amazing. It's a massive amount of knowledge just waiting to be accessed, and too many of us just use it as a selfie storage device. :)
But it's true. My wife and I talk with our oldest son and his wife every week via FaceTime, and my wife often calls her sisters in Mexico over Skype or Facebook, so we're using those tools regularly.
Just here on Steemit there's such a mixture of cultures that I've not experienced as much before, certainly not on Facebook or other social media. So, the global connecting is taking place, and I believe done right, it will be a very good thing.
