Thanks for this very detailed post. I started with meditation some month ago and still got some useful tips from your article. I still have a very busy mind but I try starting with (half)open eyes next time and try to smile a bit during the meditation.
It's really interesting how such a simple practise can improve so many brain functions!

I am just thrilled that you are trying to meditate. They say it is very hard at first but eventually the brain will stop fighting. You just have to persist! From all my research, it is very, very good to meditate. They have actual scientific studies that show the brain has good changes. Wishing you the best in your quest to peace.
