Two weeks ago, I posted a blog on my job hunting. It was a result of my sudden resignation due to organizational restructure made by my previous company. Well, weeks before that "restructure", I was already having thoughts on shifting careers. I was thinking of pursuing my writing career from my job under training. I was too scared of doing so. I was waiting for a sign because I wasn't ready to leave my job, which was very easy for me. I already got the hang of it so I didn't bother to actually aim for a better position. Until the re-structure issue came.

I wasn't ready. I cried my heart out the day I was told my department was dissolved. My company was generous enough to offer me a better position to keep me. However, I feel like the new position will not fit me. And so I decided to resign. That time, I didn't have any back up plan. No pending applications, no pending interviews. I just had a few article requests from my freelance gigs. That's it.

The day after the big announcement, I applied to various job ads online. I got a few interview invitations, which I diligently attended. Out of 5 interviews, I was lucky enough be offered a job in each company. So I had five options to choose from, all of which are writing positions. It took me two days to actually decide which offer I would accept. To give you a background, there were two companies I really liked. One is an advertising company located in Makati, which I would be writing for commercials and magazines. The other one is a more technical company that focuses on mechanical engineering. Can you guess what I chose?

I had chosen the job that would require me to learn new things. I know both companies can give me additional learning but I had to choose one that would require me to go the extra mile. So I chose the mechanical company. I'm not gonna lie, that company gave the highest salary offer that's why I chose it. But aside from that, I really got curious on why they would need a content writer for a kind of business like that. They discussed to me that they need a writer to give precised descriptions on each item that they will offer the market. They also need someone who would strategize content release online and marketing stuff. I felt fear --- fear of not meeting their expectations. I will be new to the industry and they need someone who is expert in marketing and writing. I am not that one. But they gave me a chance to grow with them. To learn from them. And to be one of them.

To tell you honestly, I still don't feel that I'm officially a writer. Sure, I write articles online for different clients but the feeling of actually working for a company feels different. Tomorrow, I will start with my new job as a content writer. I will finally take that one step to change my life. I have been wanting this moment to come since I discovered my passion for telling stories. So stay tuned with my blogs and let's see where this would take me.
