The steemit Name Challenge

Its been more than a week, #steemitnamechallenge is going on and now I have also been nominated by @valth. So valth, as it was your first challenge so as mine. Here are the rules:

  • How you choose the current steemit username? and the story behind it.
  • If you could change the your current username, which one do you choose and why? mention it!
  • Use the Tag #steemitnamechallenge.
  • Nominate 5 more to this challenge.

How you choose the current steemit username? and the story behind it.

I really wish, I can say it is my real name as I have never disclosed my real name to anyone. The current username came from the person who told me about this platform. So, my name is Vijay and the person who introduced me to steemit is Namrata. I just thought why not give the account name after her and that became VI+NAMRA= VINAMRA.

Actually, its not just a random mix-up name. In Hindi it has a meaning:

VINAMRA: Humble (A person who doesn't believe that he/she is better than others and do not proud)

And this perfectly portray me and most of the INDIANS. This is the basic reason behind choosing the username.

The one who might feel bad or betrayed by this is @dexterdev because he asked me my real name once and I said "vinamra" is my real name. Well dexterdev, really sorry for that. I can only say, I was new and just don't wanted to disclose my real name. With dev there are some others too, who should know my real name but I still believe that I can not give it my name as it was suggested and thet's why named after her.

If you could change the your current username, which one do you choose and why? mention it!

As I mentioned, I can not. Actually I don't want to.

Nominate 5 more to this challenge.

Well, most of them I know are either introduced themselves with their real name or have participated in the #steemitnamechallenge with lots of searching I found some of them. Here they are: @rickie, @whileponderin, @thethinkingdr, @bala41288 and @zvezdovica

It's totally understandable that you don't want to give away your full real name, @vinamra / Vijay!

But I think it's a great account name though, especially with the Hindi meaning :)

As mentioned, the name was named after the person who told me about this and yeah the Hindi meaning ....
The whole thing was making sense so I naked it.
Thanks :)

Gosh! @vinamra, so you are a boy. I can't believe it, I thought you are a girl. Don't worry, I will try and honor your invitation. You are quite a great writer though.

well, as I mentioned the half of the name is from of a girl. But, when I made it I never thought it would be a girl name. Thanks for the compliment. :)

Thanks for the nomination @vinamra, I appreciate. Although I kind of doubt if i'd be able to participate in this very contest though...lolz; as there's nothing intriguing or fascinating about my name. No story to it really, it's just what it is.
Glad to know your real name now though, Vijay.

I was nominated for a similar challenge by many people. I never was able to write on this. Though I don't have much to write and I hate writing about myself, still I will try to somehow write. Thanks for nominating @vinamra. Oh now Vijay it is. 😛

The funny thing was that I was thinking you were a girl. @vinamra sounded to me like a girl name. Thanks for clarifying. 🤣😉

Well, its a boy name though can also be used by a girl. A boy or girl both can be humble...😜

As we have several examples of them where the same name was shared by both genders. But, I like vinamra now.👍

Usually names ending with "a" sound belongs to female gender. That's how it is accepted world wide I guess. But no problem. I liked the name @vinamra. It sounded so different to me. And meaning makes it even more special. 😌

Really? @bala41288, names ending with "a" are feminine? Never heard of that rule before now. But doesn't that go against your own profile name of "Bala"?

Oh... that I didn't know
Well at the end it doesn't matter by which name you call me. People remember you, that's the only thing.😜
You have one more option Vijay Dinanath Chouhan...😁

That's quite a mouthful nice. 😁 I will stick with @vinamra or Vijay itself.

That's a nice question @rickie. And by the way my full name is not Bala. 😀 The name Bala is used by both the genders. It is actually pronounced as Baala which means Small in Sanskrit. So it is according to the way names are described. The great scholors in Sanskrit (Sorry I'm not a big expert) will be able to explain in detail why words "a" sounds, "e" sounds and "I" sounds and few more are not very popular in female names.
