This is the first poem I am moved to submit in the 100 Day Poetry Challange.
It is called 'Taking the Power To Be.'
Be, for the one you are, surely as you were made...
...is truly the one you were intended to be. Cease torment.
The love calling forth that your heart knows, truth inlaid..
...tis welcoming. Truly you knew all along where it went?
Listening to turns in your heart's uncertainty...
...only illuminates the cracks in the path ahead.
Your heart whispers it's fullness, in its entirety...
...from a time, in a place you will know again, free of fear again.
Who were you to let other's fears steer you away dame?
For deeply you knew the loss your soul would take
As you forfeited your dream to ease a fear or shame
You, in shame of loving what you love, naming it mistake
Why did you dream this accuser so deserving?
How did you learn to hand over your power so readily?
Who are you really, besides how you help those hurting?
How are you really, undefined by how well you fit their mould?
(eating lasagna with face)
Courageous are those, who recognised fear as it arose
Who name it and motion to pass, confident on progress and values
Straight up, though hard to stomach for those..
..who's faith in you is lost, coaxing you back to the mould, the limits and their refuge
So irritated you don't fit, they sand you down
chipping off parts they detest, manhandling, loud
"Sound the alarm, this disagreeable part won't budge!"
"This object of my affection is defective, not to be loved."
My view is known, it must be true, she is perfect, I'm in awe of her
...she only needs guidance. I must be hard on her
If only she wasn't so stupid, so stubborn and disagreeable.
She should know it's her fault for me being miserable.
